To be honest, I have a hard time seeing the use of a tl;dr version with the normal one as the mouse-over. I know synopses are pretty handy for longer deviations, but I just don't think they add much for short-stories or poetry, and might even confuse or detract (e.g. trying to describe a Maupassant/Flaubert-esque story when it's probably best presented as-is.)
I know a lot of people seem very happy with this idea, but I'd also like to know that it isn't required, so that stories best left unexplained can be left strictly in the current format.

I like the idea. It makes a lot more sense than literature having a photo on it. (I get tired of the pictures some people use since it normally makes it difficult for me to tell what the text is about.)

I would like to see this implemented into the dA system. It seems a lot more useful than what we have now XD

I think this is a great idea, except the font looks a bit too small to be readable. Great idea though!

The literature thumbnails are getting an upgrade: [link]
But they won't have a summary unfortunately.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of literature do you write?

Amen! the first couple of lines are not always a huge pull in to read things & more often than not people give their literature creative names (which is great & all, but it does nothing to let potential readers know what their work is about.)

I like the idea of having a summary- if dA had that feature, I think I might be more likely to read submitted literature! It would make it just as easy to get an idea of what it is before you click it as with a thumbnail for a drawing/painting.

Excellent suggestion. I would imagine that when one would write a summary for their piece of literature there would be a character limit (so it would remain within the dimensions of the thumbnail).

In the suggestion I said a 150 character limit would be about right.

< I agree with this so much, it should happen <3
As a writer myself, I luv it, cause when you first look at it you can see the story and practilly I don't really like that, cause it gives the story straight away when you wnat people to properly look at it and all that.
With this it'll be eaier for people to find stories they like, cause when you look at the deviantion it doesn't really say what catogory its in, so its not showing what gerne it is; so this would make is so much easier for people to find stuff they like.
Plus the summary thing is awesome too, cause people normally place the summary in the Artists comment, which is useless cause the person would have already read the literature...
enough of my blabbering XD, this is just plain awesome dude, I hope it happens <3333 >
