A fan art to celebrate clearing the Black Rock Shooter PSP game.Well, there's still a lot of things to unlock, but I'm done with the story - which I thought had a lot of unanswered questions. I felt a feeling of loneliness, since humans are extinct in the game and the only person BRS can hang on to keeps running away from her (damn Nana).
White Rock Shooter is my favorite. I love her grace and elegance. The idea I had while painting this was to make WRS stand out - like she's not part of the picture. Hence the contrast of colors - a white angelic figure amidst a drab background.
Done using poster colors.
Black Rock Shooter does not belong to me.

Black Rock Shooter is pretty interesting, especially when you consider her origin as a Hatsune Miku song and the divergence between the anime and PSP story lines.
White Rock Shooter though, she is bit of an enigma. Despite her mysteriousness, she has quite a fan following. I might need to look into her a bit.

What? She's from a Hatsune Miku song? I saw the anime series (not the first one) and the opening theme was performed by Hatsune Miku - so I dunno who came first.
And yeah, I'm not sure what her story is. In the anime, she's the parallel world embodiment of an ordinary high school girl while in the game, she's a weapon created by mankind to destroy invading aliens.

Ah, I did some research on this. It appears BRS was originally an illustration done by Ryohei Fuke which then inspired a song by the artist Supercell. The song was done in Vocaloid Hatsune Miku. Then came the OVA, the PSP games, and then 8 episode series. All media are contained in their own universes. Quite interesting.
Have you seen Chariot from the Anime? My favorite character from the franchise.

I am a HUGE Black Rock Shooter fan and I wish I could afford a PSP, I really feel like I'm missing out! (lol)
I can't describe how awesome this drawing is! The details, the contrast, and the look in WRS's eyes is just perfect!! And let's not forget the angel wings the flame from her eye forms, that is such great symbolism! Definitely one of my favourites on this site, EVER.

This is... outstanding. Detail level is impressive, and the WRS design, pose... simply masterpiece.

Thanks so much. I didn't expect I'd do a lot of details in this one. And buildings too - my weakness! But they're ruins, so I can go easy on the lines and the geometry.
I had to look for pics of girls sitting cross legged on the net as reference for WRS's pose.

The game's good. I love the bosses (even though they're a pain in the ass to fight against). As for gameplay - I'm fine with it 'cause it's easy and not very complicated - just shoot them enemies down.
