'nother wash experiment...Did this as a very belated Christmas gift for my friend. She's a huge fan of The Godfather (who isn't?) and thought this would make a good gift.
Overall, I like this piece but not thrilled with the likeness. In looking at it, the Don's head looks too big and the distinctness of Marlon Brando isn't quite there. Also, the font isn't spot-on and I forgot to include the hand. But, I do like the washes and the splatter.
You tell me what you think.

something about the right eye and the expression that feels wrong. not a bad try though

Care to elaborate? I would like to know; if you're going to state something "is wrong", please suggest a method of "correcting" it. For instance, the right (his left) eye proportionally is lower in relation to the other eye, and the lips/cheeks are skewed as well. Perhaps it is the length or width of said features, but again please specify so that I know for the future. It's not I'm disagreeing with you; it's that I've seen and heard too many critiques that offer nothing to the artist in terms of improvement. "It looks wrong" or what-have-you doesn't offer constructive advice for anyone.
Apologies for the tangent; I'm an in-service art teacher and students often make the mistake of how to engage in a critique. Nothing personal against you.

We are often hardest on ourselves. Plus, I rushed this so that I could give it to my friend yesterday. She loved it.

Thank ya good sir! Though I should of followed the inker's mantra: "When in doubt, ink it out". Heavy shadows always make things look cooler.

I like it a lot. It's a great version of Brando, God rest his soul. The flaws you point out are subjective. If you think in terms of a painted caricature, then I think you succeeded. The atmosphere is definitely there.
