Description Happy Monday, folks!

It's been a pretty hectic weekend for me with lots of stuff I will hopefully be able to show you all soon in my daily updates. Case in point, this illustration here.

When I rant about being knee-deep into work and delayed commissions/projects, it's usually these type of things I'm referring to. This is a much overdue illustration featuring the client's Khorne Chaos Warrior from the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar setting.
I have to be honest, I don't always get to illustrate the ancient Warhammer World as folks usually identify my art with the grim darkness of the far future. But it's a great challenge and change of pace to be able to do so. I still get to draw giant hulking armoured warriors, but in the grit of the medieval times And whilst I'm not entirely up to speed on the whole makeover that the WFB universe went through, I hope I've done justice to its most fearsome enemies.

In making this image I've realised how much I've evolved in certain areas of my work that were a bit underdeveloped. Lighting, for one, as well as depth into some areas has greatly improved, which gives the whole composition much more room to 'breathe' so to speak. 

So, I hope this is good fuel to kickstart the week and I'll see you all tomorrow with more of my warm-ups and projects I can share!

I've always loved the WFB setting, though I still have to dabble into Age of Sigmar more. I'd definitely welcome more images in this vein!

Hombre, podrias hacer una imagen que se lo literalmente lo opuesto de esta: en lugar de un señor de khorne, hacer una (que se yo) retributor  de los señores de la tormenta (es.pinterest.com/pin/486881409… ) con tambien el casco quitado y pero en lugar de hacer mala cara (qué es lo unico que saben hacer los siervos de khorne) que ell hiciera cara de más confianza (en plan, tu me vas a enviar a la cocina? Anda cuentame otra movida) mientras está detràs de un trasfondo con una ciudad en construcción.

No se, una idea, a mi me pareceria chulísimo poder ver las caras de esos dos para hacer el contraste.

Igualmente. ME ENCANTA. NECESITO MÁS (de lo que sea).

 Looking into those blindly cold & predatory eyes one can only suspect that LORD OF SLAUGHTER would have been an equally appropriate title ... you can therefore be said to have encapsulated the Skull Throne's Most Dangerous servants PERFECTLY with this one image!

 For some reason that particular line ("hit a particularly high point with the eyes") makes me wonder how a Servant of the Skull Throne would try to kill someone or something with their own eyeballs ...

From my experience with painting WH miniatures, when it comes to khornates, all that matters is how you paint red And I must say here, your red on this guy is superb, not too bright, not too deep into orange or pink on highlights, just good deep red color every disciple of Blood God wants to see Great job really, a pleasure to my eyes.

Red is a very tricky color indeed; as you mentioned, you can go into orange/pink easily and the tools are key, despite all the skills one might have. Luckily for me, the markers I use are pretty solid in their range of hues and they manage to stay the same even when you add volumes of gray into them. 

I usually love rendering the 'difficult' colors; yellow, red, white, haha

This piece just has a punch to it. I think it do to your areas of improvement (depth and lighting). That and your style lends really well to Warhammer Fantasy like it does 40k.

I don't know what it is about this piece, but as far as your other Warhammer 'portraits' this one just has an energy of it's own.
The shading and colors are goddamn glorious and the slightly thicker lines just give it this very masculine vibe of raw power.
And even though this may sound a bit weird, this picture actually brings back a few happy memories.
Definitely liking this one!!

Thank you so much, Tina! I also feel a connection to this work that I can't quite put my finger on. But I've narrowed it down to the fact that I think this shows my evolution as an artist in the past few years and how confident my lines have become from working so much; yes, on the one hand, it can be stressing to have such a huge backlog of commissions as well as other projects. But on the plus side, it makes you much more conscious of what to do to make the truly spectacular parts of your art shine and scrap what's not working.

I'm always glad to make something that strikes people in a good way

I was a big 40K player and painter from the age of nine or ten, up until the point that things became far too expensive in my teens. Your Warhammer stuff always gets me good with nostalgia.
