Description Hallo!

this isn't a tradition of mine, but I thought I'd break the habit this Monday and uload something to kickstart the week in full swing. And what better subject than the Dark Millenium!

I usually get a LOT of commissioned work from fans of Warhammer 40,000 that doesn't go onto dA. Mostly because some are personal pieces or DIY Chapters that I don't want to popularise and have the client scourging the web trying to suffocate stolen ideas... but sometimes, certain images deserve to be shown. This is one such piece.

You're seeing here Inquisitor Kaltos; a very straightforward servant of The Holy Inquisition, but one that struck me as very metaphorical of what The Inquisition actually is.
His grim death-mask, inscrutable, cold and expressionless, I think defines what Inquisitors are all about: judges and executioners of The Emperor, purging the hidden foes of mankind.

So, there you go. A small, but very significant piece that i hope you enjoy. There will be more to come as the week progresses!

Nic.-

I would disagree the Inquistion is cold, judges and excustioners. Actually, I would say the Inquistion is quite the opposite when you look into it. It's made up of hot heads trying to out dick each other, even helping the Imperium becomes second place to power grabbing in many cases.

Extremely cool Nic. I can't wait to show my players what their inquisitor looks like.

I especially like the pitiless expression on the mask. It fits very well with his foreboding nature as an Untouchable.

Death is my name, and I do not fear it, for I am already dead and you will be soon, as well.

That's one seriously awesome inquisitor. Almost makes me want to start getting the models in fact.

Quite original, using a mask like that on a good guy (at least that I know of). Kick-ass!

Love it to bits, not sure if the red on the robe is a velvet highlight or piping, but it looks amazing either way, the mask is fantastic, looks almost like lead, also reminds me a little of the Immortals from 300. The glow around his rosette (conversion field?) is wonderful too.

so....in other words he's an Amalathian Monodominant, oh goodie, we're ALL heretics in that case in his eyes

the boltpistol and the staff kind of blend together, shame cause you almost loose both parts in the gray mass

Interesting piece though, its much more zoomed-in than your general bust images, focuses more heavily on the mask.Good touch there

got to agree about that, and also, the perspective on the bolter looks a bit iffy, the mag turned slightly more than the hand and grip.
Sorry, I know post-facto crit of commissions isn't very helpful

well i know for myself that drawing sicle-clips in perspective is a b*tch...its quite hard to get the curve to go with the angle of the weapon itself, only correct way would be to use a full 3-d picture where the item is modeled then added into the image, and even it will look iffy cause of the clash of curved and sharp-edged parts

true, or you could look at a model bolt pistol :-p
Anyway, don't get me wrong, I always love Nic's work, I just don't wanna be one of those slavish fans that just comments "omg that's AMAZING!!111!" *melt
If I see something that needs work, I'll say so.
