Description Meet the new Nordanner

"Come on, Blaster. It isn't that bad."
"You're proposing I dress up as a human chew-toy!" The 23 year old started to back away. "I-I refuse!"
I watched as Logan backed up into Cam, who was standing behind him holding a leather chest plate. He dumped the plate over Logan's head and held him in place as I did up the straps on the side. He kicked and cursed in protest as I secured a belt with a red sash attached around his waist.
"Assault! Rape!" He yelled.
We both stepped back in unison and he sprinted away. I was really surprised how fast he could run.
The three dog crates next to me rattled as the excited dogs inside watched Logan run off into the distance.
"Shall we give him a little longer?" I asked with a cocky smile on my face.
"Nah, any longer and he'll take all the stuff off." Cam replied. He walked over and released Roach and Maz. I opened Lincoln's crate and the Night Cur's pelted off after the man.
It wasn't long before I heard yelps and 'get off me!'s and Lincoln came back over the hill with the red sash in his mouth. Roach and Maz fought to hold it too and soon a tug-of-war broke out. Roach managed to reign victorious and brought the ripped sash back to drop it at my feet.
"Good boy, Roach." I laughed.
"I hate you lot!" I heard a yell from where Logan was attacked.
Cam laughed as he clipped leashes to the three dogs and started down the trail with the dogs in tow. I decided to wait for Logan for a bit.
The man came sulking over the hill after about 5 minutes and grumbled down the trail without looking at me.
I caught up and put an arm around him.
"Surely when you applied for the job you expected some dirty work, right?"
Blaster just shook me off and grumbled. I backed off a little and smiled, trying not to laugh. He veered off the trail when we reached the property again and headed for his cabin.

I pushed open the door to Logan's cabin with two coffees in hand. The music blasting made the ground pulse beneath me and I instantly felt refreshed and my head started to nod in time with the music.
I walked in and was hit by a wall of sound. I loved loud music, but even this made me cringe. I sooo didn't regret putting sound-proof barriers in each cabin's walls.
I put the coffees down quickly and reached for some Beats headphones that were on a stand along side several other pairs of different brands. I put them on my ears and instantly felt better. My ears covered, I searched the room for Blaster, who was at his turn tables with his back to me. I tapped him on the shoulder and he jumped. He turned to face me and grabbed a remote, the music dying. He pulled his headphones off.
"What?" He snarled.
"That's the way to speak to your boss." I said, folding my arms.
He just stared at me.
"I brought coffee." I pointed to where I had put the cups down.
"Thanks." He grumbled.
A bit of an awkward silence started and I glanced around the room.
Logan surprisingly kept his place neat and tidy, several small tables were positioned around the small space and stacked high with one type of object for each table. One had CD's in racks on a Lazy Susan, another had crate upon crate of vinyl records, and the one I put the coffee on had several teacup trees full of different types of headphone. Two walls were almost covered in speakers in any shape or form, the bass switch completely ramped up.
"Well, I'll leave you to it." I turned to leave.
"You can stay if you want."
I turned around and smiled. "As long as you turn the sound down."
"You're no fun." He forced a smile and put his headphones back on. He grabbed the remote and started the music again, this time at a bearable level.
I sat down on a longue chair and watched as Blaster mixed a new track, incorporating the lyrics of Titanium. The music pounded as I sat back and sipped the coffee I'd made. It was interesting to watch as Logan tore himself away from the turn table to grab the coffee, making it back in record time without spilling.

A muffled buzzing on my belt brought me out of my music coma. I looked down and saw my radio flashing a green light, to say someone was using one of the many units I handed out to the staff. I took it outside, away from the wall of sound, and answered it.
"Ghost!" It buzzed.
"NW1 here." I sighed.
"Where the bloody hell are you?"
"Chill, Lara Bingle. At Blaster's cabin. Over" I replied. I still wasn't sure who it was, so I looked at the display. NW3. Stark.
"Get over to the main gate. We have a delivery and they'll only let you sign for it."
"Oh my god. Is it?"
"Yep."
I jumped up and down in excitement. I put the radio back on my belt and sprinted down the path towards the parking lot and the main gate. I emerged from the forest of cabins and saw a horse transport truck in the driveway.
I hurried over and signed some forms after I flashed some ID. I signalled for Oscar to open the gate and the truck drove through. I hopped up into the passenger's seat and directed the truck through the maze of paddocks to the stables.
I was so excited. I had only seen one picture thus far of the horse in the back of the truck, the picture of him as a foal by his mother's hip.
I nearly ripped the door off it's hinges as I opened it. The foal inside stood in shock at the frantic welcome. More calmly, I grasped the foal's halter and led it gently out into the light. I heard Pistol whinny in the background and knew he was welcoming the arrival.

"When you said we were getting a Nordanner, I didn't expect a dog." Stark leaned against the fence with his arms crossed. He looked critically at the spotted colt that raced around the sheep field with Blue and Kiah, rounding and keeping one sheep away from the herd.
"I see cutting talent in him." I smiled. "And if we train him right, we could always turn him loose while droving."
I pursed my lips and gave a shrill whistle that rang out across the field. The dogs immediately abandoned the sheep and ran back to me, the colt in tow. I started to walk back towards the house and the three 'dogs' followed me. Stark shook his head and I saw him put a hand on the colts shoulder and give him a scratch. The colt whinnied happily and nuzzled Starks chest.

With the dogs back in their runs, I lead the Dog-Anner, as I liked to call him, to the exercise paddock where Pistol, Caliber and Ripper were for the weekend. All three horses had trained hard and deserved some time off. Chevy, Frag and Webber were in the barn paddock, ready to be taken out for some stock work.
The colt, who was still yet to receive a name, walked unsurely by my side as we entered the paddock. I took the lead rope off and he clung to back as I skipped towards the horse. Caliber raised her head and whinnied. Pistol saw me and immediately cantered over, sliding to a stop a few meters in front of me. Ripper simply glanced up to acknowledge me, then went back to grazing.
Of all the horses here at the kennels, Caliber would be the closest in age to the Nordanner. Caliber was a little younger than two years and still stuck to the male paddocks because there were simply no mares to keep her company. Cali was a big tomboy at heart and I defiantly wasn't worried about the boys trying to sneak a breeding to her, well, I would keep an eye on Webber.
The Nordy foal behind me tried to hide himself by pushing his head into my back. I felt the soft push and rolled my eyes with a smile. I greeted Pistol and pushed his forelock out of his eyes, I still needed to trim it.
I had already decided the Nordies registered name was to be "TFR Legendary CinnamonRoll", but still had no name for him.
Spots was 'very original', Legend was his father, CinnamonRoll was his mother, so I was looking for options as the colt peeked out from behind me to glance at Pistol who looked at the colt with curiosity. I stepped to the side and the colt was out in the open. I saw his tail shoot between his legs as Pistol sniffed him. I was surprised when Pistol gave him a lick up the colts muzzle. The foal took this as a welcome because he was suddenly happy and butted Pistol in the chest with his head. The stallion and foal played chasing for the next half hour, Caliber joining in. I decided the colt would be fine here for a while so I left the paddock and made for the house.
A sad whinny made me turn around. The colt was at the fence, looking at me with a cocked head. Caliber cantered up to nibble at his mane playfully, but the foal just shook her off. He wanted me.
"Awww." I said, walking back over. "I can't stay here forever." I told him as I ruffled his forelock. I laughed as the Nordanner licked my hands and nuzzled my shoulder.
"Are you sure you're not a dog?" I whispered.

I finally left the colt, leaving him sad, and went back to the house.
I walked into the kitchen and Cam was under the sink.
"What are you doing?" I asked, peering under the bench to look at my brother.
"Trying to fix the stupid pipes." He muttered, sounding frustrated.
"I could call Oscar?"
"No! I can do it." Water started to drip from the pipe onto his chest, the stream getting faster.
I dismissed him. My brother could fix cars, not pipes. I picked up my radio off my belt and let Blasters chatter die before speaking into it.
"NW4 come in please. Oscar, you there?" I heard a two short whistle sound through. The system I had taught Oscar for using the radios was, two whistles for yes, one for no. The mute could obviously not answer the radio otherwise, right?
"NW4, NW1 requires your assistance down at the house. Can you come?" Two whistles. "Great. NW1 out."
I ended up going upstairs to my room to read for a while. I looked at the clock and read 5:30pm. I let out a groan for no apparent reason. My book was getting boring so I turned out the light and went straight to sleep.

A warm hand caressing my stomach roused me from my sleep. I sleepily opened my eyes and gently closed my hand around the hand on my stomach. It broke free from my grasp and tickled my sides softly. My mouth angled upwards in a smile and I half turned to kiss the underside of my attackers jaw. I felt Stark's throat vibrate as he smiled and laughed quietly.
"Good morning." I whispered.
"Morning."
I turned my body completely and snuggled into him, an arm slipping over me protectively.
I could tell Stark was up late because it was 7am, an hour after he usually gets up, and he hadn't risen yet. I soon heard him snoring and I closed my eyes and decided to sleep in.
My ears picked up on yelling in the hallway and I pulled the pillow over my face. Then pounding on the stairs. Then my door nearly being ripped off its hinges.
"Ghost!" An out of breathe voice yelled.
I growled and turned over, Stark's limp arm falling between us as he continued to sleep.
I glared at him. "What?" My voice dripped with poison.
Blaster took a step back and panted. "S-Sorry, it's just. He's just…"
"Spit it out!" I said angrily.
"Webber's in the living room and the new colt's in the backyard with the house dogs."
I just stared at him. The anger gone with confusion setting in. "Wait, what?"
"Long story short, Webber broke the fence, then broke the other paddock's fence and the colt is now in the backyard playing with your house dogs. When I came to try and get the colt, Webber followed me and went into the house through the kitchen door…"
Stark started to stir and looked around sleepily. "Logan…?" He asked.
"Don't worry, Vamp. There's just a horse in the living room." I got up and pulled on my boots, I was sill wearing the clothes from the day before. "Go back to sleep."
Stark did a double take of the room before taking my advice.
I fled down the stairs and spotted Webber nibbling at a house plant.
"Webber!" I called with frustration. The Appaloosa looked up and looked at me innocently. I grabbed his halter and hauled the stallion outside. This was exactly why a halter never left his head.
"Where are all the other horses." I asked, Blaster following me.
"Ahhh Caliber isn't to far away, and the rest stayed in the paddock."
I turned. "Frag and Chevy stayed?" I asked, unbelieving.
"I think so…"
"Not bloody likely." I snorted. I turned and continued to take the horse out of the house. "Why didn't you just get him out yourself?"
"I-I don't like horses." He said, his voice getting smaller. "He looked at me funny."
I laughed. "You're serious?"
"Shut up." Logan sulked.
Once outside, I whistled, expecting the house dogs to assemble, instead the colt came bounding over.
"You are definitely weird." I shook my head and pulled myself a top Webber. I kicked the chestnut stallion and held onto his mane as he started to canter. We headed towards the paddock and managed to herd Caliber into the paddock. I dismounted and kept a hold on his halter, I pulled the fence beam up to temporarily fix it before Stark could tend to it. I remounted my 'trusty' horse and went to find the other horses.

"Right you. Stay there." I scolded. I left Webber, Frag and Chevy in the barn paddock and made for the house again. I had temporarily repaired the fences to make sure they didn't get out again, but Stark would fix them today.

Still clueless on how to deal with white animal shading Excuse the pink xD

Also, for the non-Aussie's, Lara Bingle did a tourism ad for Australia with the tag line being 'where the bloody hell are you?'
