12/13/13 : My application for !!! It looks really neat!! There’s still some time to apply, go check it out! I was originally going to join with a different character, but decided to settle with this dork. :>

Ability: Rough Skin: Making physical contact with this person will reduce HP by 1/8th.
Attacks:

+ Reversal: [Power: ??/ PP: 15] An all-out attack that does more damage if the user’s HP is low. Faelan is a reckless fighter, and the more he is hurt, the harder he fights back.

+ Worry Seed: [Power: --/ PP: 10] The user plants a seed on the target which makes its ability Insomnia, making them unable to sleep. Sometimes when sneaking up on people Faelan will do this to make them paranoid and weak for when he decides to attack.

+ Captivate: [Power: --/ PP: 20] If the target is opposite the gender of the user, they become charmed, lowering their special attack by two stages. Faelan doesn’t really use this move much. Lord knows Tangaroa does though.

+ Iron Head: [Power: 80 /PP: 15] The user slams into the target with a hard head. There is a 30% of making the target flinch. Can cause impalement if used correctly, as both Faelan and Tangaroa have horns on their head, though this is actually rather hard as both of their horns are angled to be facing away.


Personality:
Excitable / Naive / Loyal / Reckless / Idiot

     Faelan is more like a little kid than anything. Though he’ll try to hide it with a cocky and confident attitude, the ‘I don’t need your help’ sort of vibe, he’s truly lost in this world which is so different from the one he grew up in and needs more help than you can imagine. He’s fascinated by all the people and things around him, and also at the same time a little fearful, being so unaware of all these things… But still, he’s excited to learn when it doesn’t interfere with his old tribal beliefs (mostly things that deal with magic and religion,) and can be very easily fooled, often putting trust into people sooner than he should. Once he’s learned you made him be played for a fool though, he can be very, very hard to forgive; he can hold grudges for quite some time.

    When it comes to friends, Faelan is a little trickster. He likes to play jokes (and sometimes maybe going too far with said jokes) and making his friends laugh and smile. But he can also be very over-protective, even jealous of his friends and can be clingy. If he believes they’re in trouble, he’ll do everything in his power to keep them safe or rescue them.

    When it comes to fighting, Faelan is very reckless and has hardly any defense at all. He focuses on killing before getting killed. He can sometimes let rage and instinct overtake him, and when this happens it can be very hard to stop him from indulging in his bloodlust.


History:

    Rockdell* Village & their Traditions
    Faelan was born in a small tribal like village called Rockdell deep within the Mossy Woods; everyone in the village was like family, and usually everyone is referred to like family, calling one another brother, mother, grandfather, etc., even if not blood related. Everyone in Rockdell is actually given two names; a true name (which is shared with one’s familiar), and a ‘mask’ name, in case you want to refer to someone specifically without insulting them (i.e. Brother Faelan). True names are considered to be deeply spiritual, and only to be used by blood family or significant others, and are not given out – to seek one’s true name without permission makes one suspected of trying to cast black magic on them, and would be considered a good reason to be sent out of the tribe. (Now would be a good time to mention that they are extremely suspicious of mages, haha…)

    And though they are friendly enough to themselves, they are not the least bit welcome to any outsiders; in fact, they frequently get more advanced supplies than they could produce themselves by raiding travelling merchants heading towards Woodshade Village, or just passing through the forest to get to their destination.

    Another notable ritual of theirs is that children do not grow up with their familiars; they are kept separate (familiars left to survive in the forest, and children to be raised within the village) until a coming-of-age ceremony (usually around 12 or 13) where the kids are sent into the forests by themselves to tame their familiars. They believe in all of the central gods (i.e. Decima, Tiakat, Senza, etc.) as well as some smaller gods (Gods of the forest and trees, Animal gods to pray to after killing an animal, etc.) of their own creation.
               * Rockdell is subject to change… I don’t think the name really matches the vibe of the village haha…

    The Actual History
    Anyway, sorry I got distracted there. Back to Faelan. Faelan was a pretty normal kid in this odd little vicious tribe village, you know, go hunt animals, play with woven toys, help raid the occasional merchant for supplies. I mean, except for the infrequent moral crisis from stealing from merchants, he was almost the model child! A lot of the other children looked up to him and was the favorite of many of the elders as he was quite strong, obedient, and was actually quite entertaining to listen to (story tellers are highly respected within this tribe, especially since writing is looked down upon.) Really, no one would have been surprised if he was destined to become the next tribe leader.

    Unfortunately, they were totally surprised, and not in the way they thought they would be. When it came for Faelan’s coming of age ceremony, he did not come back the same man. They didn’t notice it for a while, being in awe of his dragon familiar, but after the rush died down they noticed Faelan was not the obedient boy that had left them a few days ago. He suddenly asked all sorts of questions, questions the tribal leaders did not like and did not want to be asked. He didn’t obey his elders without hesitation. He suddenly began to complain about how he felt the tribal life to be kind of pointless, empty, like something was missing. (One day I’ll make a comic of what his trial was like and it will explain why he acts differently now…)

    Hoping this was just a phase or something, they left Faelan to his own devices and waited for him to come back to his senses. But he never did. Though he stopped complaining and voicing his opinions, those feelings were still there, and slowly he felt less and less a part of his tribal family. He no longer helped with raids, hardly even came down for meals, and spent most of his time perched the very top of the oldest tree with his familiar, and gazing over the mighty woods to the land afar and dreaming of what different opportunities lay there.

    After years of this drift, the elders could no longer tolerate Faelan and his behavior, and Faelan felt likewise about them, and eventually came to the agreement that Faelan would leave the tribe indefinitely. Faelan was overjoyed at first, to finally be free to go by himself and do as he wished without feeling the tribe looking over him with discouraging eyes. Then he actually took a step outside of the forest. And it was nice for like, 20 seconds before he became terrified and ran back inside to the safety of his shadows underneath the trees.

    And this is the in-between Faelan has been stuck at for almost a year now. Hiding in the forest, going outside the forest for a little bit, running back after being spooked. Mostly he’s settled for staying on the edge of the forest, perhaps helping merchants pass through and avoid his ex-tribe for a bit of coin, and protecting the forest from suspicious characters like thieves and poachers. Lately he’s even been considering becoming a temporary body guard. He feels like he’s on the edge of a great and brilliant adventure, but maybe just needs a little push, a little hand-holding to guide him… ( or maybe a LOT if he’s lucky, heheheh)

Familiar's Name: Tangaroa (tan-gar-owa)
Familiar's Personality:
Relaxed / Talkative / Sassy
Tangaroa is for the most part a very chill dragon dude. He’s got a somewhat cocky and impish attitude, and enjoys teasing Faelan frequently. He’s quite chatty and would honestly rather like to hear himself talk than fight; when Faelan came to tame him for his trial, they fought very little before Tangaroa began to lecture him and change Faelan’s point of view. Despite toying with Faelan a lot when he first met him, he quickly grew fond of him and saw him like a little brother. Though his intentions may not always be clear, he has a heart of gold beating in his chest, and always means the best. Aside from that however he can be whiny and quite jaded at times…

He’s also a bit of a ladies man dragon. Ka-ching! Watch out babes~!

               What is Faelan’s (and Tangaroa’s) true name??? NO ONE KNOWS!!! (jk. I do. And so do they. this is just a cheap advertising mystery to get you to rp with them/me okay)

               Faelan’s favorite food is meat. That’s all he says. He won’t even specify. Wow Faelan. Tangaroa likes banabs though. Yum!

               Faelan doesn’t know how to read. At first he thought writing was just confined only to curses (which is also what his entire tribe thinks) but upon learning it’s just like story-telling written down, he felt kind of embarrassed and awkward. He pretends he can read from now on and fails horribly. He’ll lie to the death about it too.

               He has no idea how much things are worth and doesn’t grasp the monetary system very well, as his tribe mostly just traded things. So don’t trust him with your money. Ever. He will probably get conned very badly.

               Very wary of mages. His tribe believed mages gave away their true names to evil spirits to have some of their power.

               His weapon is a spear! He’s actually a rather reckless fighter and gets injured quite a lot. He tends to sneak up on people he’s targeting though if he can, to gain a small advantage.

               Terrified of large open spaces. He doesn’t feel safe with nowhere to hide. He also hates being in overly crowded places. He feels suffocated and hates the smell. Worst of all is the cold though. Faelan and Tangaroa avoid winter like conditions as if it were the plague. JK. FAELAN LOVES SNOW. HE FREEZES TO DEATH BUT IT IS HIS FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD. tangaroa still hates it though.

               Comes up with nicknames for most of the people he meets, and will probably refer to them as “brother” or “sister.” He feels uncomfortable using people’s first names, as he thinks it’s something like their true names, and feels that he is not worthy to call them by that.

               Faelan and Tangaroa both love to be up high, whether it be flying or climbing trees or cliffs, or drugs.. One of their favorite past times is Faelan jumping off high places and having Tangaroa catch him as they fly away. (Think like how in skyward sword Link would fall and have his bird catch him. Extreme trust exercises! )

               Instead of bananas/banabs, Tangaroa’s fruit/flower is based off of a magnolia tree, though my speedy art skills may not show this very well.

               Faelan hates wearing shoes or keeping his feet bound, feeling constricted and weird. He always loved to feel the cool grass on his feet (even if it meant scratching up his feet when he ran into thorny plants) and is not actual aware how HOT or COLD the ground can be. please someone introduce him to sand and snow

               Though Faelan has a general rule against stealing from others, and might even stop a thief or two if he sees one, but if he has no other options he will steal a little food to get him through the day.
