Henrik, Giđđa and KristoffSo a while ago I couldn’t get the image of Kristoff’s birth parents out of my head. So here the are. What I imagined them to be like anyway. I think it’s safe to say I was heavily influenced by Saami traditional clothing. In the 1800′s there were not as colourful and not all were so detailed, so I took reference from more recent traditional outfits. I also took creative license for a few things so that it would fit more in the Frozen movie!verse
I imagined they died of unknown causes so he was separated from them at a very young age, probably around 5 and that he would still sort of vaguely remember them.
Kristoff basically inherited his build and his face from his old man, only Henrik is bigger. And from his mother, aside from her blond hair, more subtle things like how she smiles and her higher brow ridge and softer cheekbones.

This is exquisitely elegant!!! Both characters are amazing, well-detailed, gorgeous/handsome and I can totally see them as Kristoff's parents. Though I'm not sure why but Gidda reminds me of Sacagawea (which I think makes her look more beautiful

im glad ya made this. the movie literally gave no explanation about where kristoff came from. even Hans had a back story. but we get nothing on kristoff. he must have had a terrible past. his child hood was so bad the movie didn't want to talk about it.

writer: . . . but he's one of our main characters. we should at lease get to know where he's been living all these years since we showed some him randomly at the beginning of the movie. he's not a rock. he needed shelter.

He was never taken by them though. He could have left anytime but he stayed because he had nothing else. The reason Bulda said she'd keep them was because the trolls can read people's hearts. (a thing they don't mention in the movie, but its in the books) and when she looked at Kristoff she read his heart and knew he had no family. (it's also why they were trying to get him and Anna married later. They read their hearts and knew they were falling in love before they did.)
So yeah, they played off the whole 'trolls taking children' bit, but it wasn't a trick nor was he forcefully taken away from anyone. He was happy to stay. There was no kidnapping. He was an orphan from the start.
A lot of people think he was taken from the other harvesters, but in the books it said the older ice harvesters kept telling young Kristoff not to follow them because he was too young and too small. They didn't really care about him, they just didn't want to be responsible for him getting hurt. :/
So the only thing that's dark about his past is his parent's deaths. It's the fact that he was probably too young to really remember much about them, and that he's had to live alone, either in a shack or on the streets from a ridiculously young age. He was just 8 years old when the trolls adopted him. And just a year or so before that is when he found and rescued Sven.
