Description
This was done for my Character Design class. I decided to keep working on Gidda, my version of Kristoff's mother.
Headcanon: As a young girl, Giđđa and her family watched over a few reindeer. Nienná was her favorite. Before Henrik and Giđđa left for Arendelle with their baby, the reindeer were set free. This little one will grow to be Sven’s mother. In a strange twist of fate, a young Kristoff will save Sven years later, unknowingly reconnecting through the bond their families once had.

Im very glad you like it. I get so nervous when drawing about different cultures... Im afraid I'm not representing them right sometimes. but I can't help but try, there's so much beauty in cultures and traditions that I know nothing about and drawing them gives me a chance to really look into them and learn.
I got quite a bit of flack for this piece as well but more positive feedback than bad.

I remember looking at your design for... Albert of the Southern Aisles, is it Albert? I don't remember. But I have a personal request. My 16th birthday is coming up and I was hoping you could do something for me. I get that you specialize in Kristanna, (Also, well done!) But I was reading a fanfiction called: Frozen a Sequel, and was hoping you could try your gifted hand at drawing John, Elsa's suitor Prince number 8 of the Southern Aisles, or Maren, Hans' Mother, the ex-queen, or both. Again, I know it may not be what you want to do, but it would mean a lot to me. Either way, I respect your decision, but I think you have the skill!

Gosh, I love the fact that her design is based off of the Sami - being half native Scandinavian myself (some Finnish, some Norwegian, basically half Sami) ^^ The only thing I find a little special (not in a bad way) is her light hair - most Sami I know of have dark, almost black, hair and actually kind of Asian features. Of course, living in the same countries as a bunch of people with light hair and blue eyes with other nordic features will lead to differences over time, but all in all you really showcase the Sami really well, and the blond hair is such a nice twist in my opinion

The blond hair actually isn't as uncommon as you might think. Look up some sami tribes on google, many of them are blond, and have fair skin or fair hair. There's a lot of diversity there. I suppose it depends where they are situated.

Im always inspired by real life things
Her design is based off an actual culture. The Saami are the indigenous people of Scandinavia and other nordic countries have been settled there for thousands of years and are known for their unique reindeer herding traditions.
We were told by jen Lee that Kristoff is in fact, Saami (as are most of the ice harvesters, apparently). So its only natural that I based his parent's designs after these amazing people.
