Description you guys asked it and heres some school work
ill upload today and tomorrow some more

this was for a chair named methods and techniques of drawing, it teaches us basic stuff to start a drawing and to do so properly, with rules and guidelines. recurring to blocking in techniques and structural diagrams, there wasn't supposed to be this many detailed firstly because it was just to show the structures behind it.

this is a drawing of the helenistic statue of Laocoonte go google him

from my history classes "Laocoonte from the greek mythology well not really mthology, he was the man who in the trojan wars saw the hidden greek boats, and when he set off to warn the trojans the horse was a trap, poseidon the greek god of the seas sent out his sea serpents to kill him, his sons were also killed trying to save his father"

we have a copy of the statue at my college so i drew this live and not from a picture
[link] this is a photo of the original one, ours of course is a copy and is also much more deteriorated since its made out of plaster. the original on the other hand is made out of marble and is more polished and refined
ill be sure to take some photos of it and upload it onto my facebook page next monday

i know there is some mistakes, namely the arm of the right child (his right) and so on

A2, bar of charcoal original one looks way better as usual, but since i don't have that kind of scanner for this size it's the best i could do

~cheers more to come

Nice drawing. Any plans to go further with it? Painting? Engraving? Zbrush?

I should be sued for not commenting in a while when I still wanted to express some kind of gratitute for my feature

Anyways, it's interesting once more to see some work from your school. I like the sketch - some ankles could be more extreme (like how Laokoonte tilts his head), next to what you already pointed out yourself, but I think it comes very close to the statue and I could instantly identify this as the statue of Laocoonte

That is one difficult composition (I wish we had an opportunity to draw this complex statue, but we've only been drawing real models, who can't make such intricate poses). Nice try I should say, of course your version lacks this strong facial expression filled with sorrow and despair, but you did well on the dynamic pose expression. The guidelines could have been a little lighter, but I guess you didn't really bother erasing them. The knowledge of anatomy is very important for such a drawing, knowing which muscles to accentuate and what parts to fade (having the lighting in mind as well) to keep the balance and harmony of the composition.
So keep studying and drawing.

thank you
i agree it could be better with the facial expression and all, but the main focal point here was just the structre, the teacher didn't ask for volume and mass and this kind of detail
since it was made with a bar of charcoal and blunt there wasn't much detail i could give, but i will remake this in graphite properly further on (next year most likely)

and once again the guidelines, structural diagram and blocking in lines should have remained there, it's a kind of exercice where that should be above the drawing itself, just felt like emphasizing that since this wasn't a proper drawing exercice to study values or give that much detail, its more to find the guidelines and composition movement

i sure will
i still have some more to update

i've always loved this piece for it's dynamic...one of my favorite greek sculptures.

it's one of my favorites as well
though i prefer the belvedere torso just for it's volume and mass but it's not that intricate and dynamic
