I am sure your friends really like this, but I will try not to pat your head. Instead, I'll try to help you improve, and be honest with you.
First of all... ARGH! One every two pieces on this site is some wolf/cat/raccoon OC! What happened to all the other animals in this damn world! I know it's not your character to start with, but please understand me, I've been viewing fursonas with "strange markings" for the last two hours, and I am not amused.
Secondly, your grasp of anatomy is... strange. You do decent in the hind leg area, but the head is just completely off. It looks like no animal known to man. Perhaps it would be good exercise for you to download pictures of animals and paint them on top of the actual photograph (in a new layer), just to get used to the anatomy/shapes. Only after having a good grasp of realism can you make decent caricatures/cartoons; it's the way it works.
The grass and firefly things are not bad at all, even if the sky is a bit lacking, and the greyscale/colour scheme of the fur is decently rendered, even if lacking proper shading.
If you want to be more than just another kid drawing mediocre OCs with rainbow markings, you will have to work on your technique, and especially come up with new, original ideas. I believe you can do it!
We all start from somewhere, and heaven knows I drew like SHIT when I was younger.

And yeah, my anatomy is really off LOL and I do realize that there are countless cat/wolf/dog/whateverisfurry artists everywhere and that I do indeed fit in among those people, but it is just what I am comfortable drawing as of now but I practice drawing humans and other things every day so that I don't just draw awkward looking cats LOL..

Aside from anthro/furry OCs not being what I personally like drawing, I have no trouble recognising that some anthro/furry artists are awesome! I think this picture, which is concept-wise very close to yours, can be a very good example of how this kind of art can still be very impressive and technically advanced. I think that if you try, in a few months (or a couple of years) you will be able to reach that kind of level.
