Drawing is based on a myth about fairies riding corgi dogs
After doing the art trade with carla I really wanted to use a reference for rocks this time but I kinda over did it i think xDD it was pretty difficult to make the dog and fairy blend in. Still not sure if this is completely finished.. Hmm Also I think it might be too chaotic/busy drawing.. Anyways!! I hope you like it Jen

I think you did a great work with the rocks! : D I'm not very good at painting rocks myself, I think it's really difficult for some reason.

Thanks! Yes it's a little to busy and I actually thought of doing the corners darker as well but I'm going for a realistic look for this drawing. If I do that the lighting will be not very realistic. I will keep it in mind for other art works though

I don't have too much time for looking into other galleries. I have a lot to learn - It's very tiring. I have a little problem with my health ... and the health of my family (grandma has cancer).
For the month will begin the holiday season in my country. I will spend more time on dA!

That's very cool! I like what you did with the rocks, actually. The details are very neat, and the way you sketched it gives it a kind of mossy feeling that works really nicely in the scene. The way the wings are shaded gives it an illusion of stone too.

personally I would've not been so hard on the clear brushstrokes.. but if that's your preferred style then that's okay. I can really feel the rock texture

Yes true. But when I used a softer brush it looked so fuzzy and I couldn't get the look I wanted. Perhaps I took it too much to extreme and could've picked a brush in between. But I hadn't foreseen that it would be this busy xP
Definitely tried that already with the overlay, but the result deviated a lot from the original reference and lost quite some details..so I decided to keep it this way. A learned a lot drawing this image
Also tried to pop a little yellow in there (necklace n wings and some flowers) but it made it busier.

Well, at least you tried ^^ the best brush for in between is definitely a square brush for me. transfer settings to half the amount and then just working from dark to light. variation in pressure gives the gradients that you so like

hehe it's pretty simple really xD uhm no.. I usually build up my art from a darker color to a lighter one

That is also a good way of course ^^ it depends really xD I've noticed that I don't really have a standard method to my paints.. that's probably also why they take so long.

asdfhjakfhjsadlfh!!!! I don't know what to say, this is AMAZING!!!! No wonder if took you a while, you drew a whole masterpiece!! Wow I'm in awe right now... incredible work!! The corgi and fairy are so cute and well done *U* and then with the addition of the background, I'm totally blown away! I'm gonna print this out as well, if u don't mind! 8D and man, just the way u have the corgi and fairy next to the stream in a perfect environment is just awesome! I don't think it looks chaotic at all, its very peaceful and also I like your style! <3

WHOOOT i'm so happy you like it and it's good to hear you don't find it chaoctic. Sometimes it's a bit hard to judge after working long on a piece. Pff no worries at all! You don't need to make another drawing xD With doing this trade you gave me the oppertunity to really go for it (cause you're the best!
For this piece I basically only used the hard round brush :3 Oh and I added brown in the rocks and changed the composition so the dog & fairy would fit.

Oh I know what you mean!! I can get really critical of my own art and then also work on it for so long that I can't see what I have to fix xD But this artwork... Phew its just amazing!! I knew you'd do a great job but this is beyond even what I imagined and thankyou, I can't wait to get the big file! *gonna print it out and hang it somewhere!!*
