It's really, really dark... but I love it.

Thanks! I've noticed that images which look fine on my computer might look dark or washed out on others', so though it is a very dark piece you might be seeing it extra dark.
I'm surprised we haven't crossed paths here on DA before, I had no idea you've had an account for 5 years!

Amazing! You depicted them quite peaceful, but i wouldn't like to touch them at all.

Thanks! I feel like good/evil is pretty subjective with monsters depending on your perspective, so I appreciate that you see the peaceful nature in them. I wouldn't touch them either without greater understanding of them, much like any wild creature.

Really like the creatures themselves, utterly uncanny.

I am not sure what the Mythos writers intended. Good work all the same.

Great and impressive scene. I love the perspective and the light on the water, as well as the dark atmosphere.

I wasn't able to get to the show myself- but I think I saw the piece you mention in the program for the HPL Film Festival from the beginning of the month. Am I thinking of the right thing?
If so, were you able to attend? It'd be awesome to hear a bit about it, one of my films got in as well!

Yep, it was part of my first video project, "Eldritch Light & Shadow" [link] Is your project online as well??
I couldn't make it, either, unfortunately, though I wish I could have.

Very cool! Mine is here [link]
I've been in that show twice but just haven't had the means to make it out the the west coast at those times. Do you know of any closeby? You'd think there's be something in New England..

Wow- that's great!! How long did that take to create?
Lovecraft country is pretty quiet, unfortunately. Perhaps ten years back there was the last 'Necronomicon', and I haven't been aware of much else since.

It took just under a year with a team of two (and a very lazy summer). A third person joined us near the end as well.
Right now we're working on The Temple, which is about 10x as ambitious and is going to take most of forever.
I want to try to get to some of those other Lovecraft events so I can see how they're done. It'd be interesting to organize one, you know, in the area you'd expect them to be.

While strangely grotesque, you manage to give it a depth of realism that most artists could only hint at.
Excellently done, perfectly executed. Honestly, there was enough to move your eyes around the page, I didn't notice the blank spot until you said something.

Wow, thank you for the very kind and thoughtful comments!! I'm glad the image still works without the text as a needed element.
cheers!

~How sessile.~
The looming perspective does well to give a sense of impending horrors.

Thank you, especially from one whose current avatar is a hydra! I suspect most viewers feel trapped from reaching the surface because of the perspective.

I love it.
It's as if the microscopic creatures of the same name were given a dose of macrocosmic malevolence, and uplifted into these delightfully abominable forms.

Heh, thanks! I imagine this sort of thing could happen to ordinary sea life, should it live too close to R'lyeh or some other deep evil.

Thanks, dude! Lovecraft had some serious phobias about fish and sea life in general, so there was no way I could leave it with a settling feeling.
