Description left to right:
Captain Bat, Captain Wonder, Captain Super, Captain Lantern, Captain Aqua, Captain Flash, Captain Hawk

EDIT:
Thanks to DA bud, bkno, I was alerted to the oversight of a missing continental protector for Africa. that has now been remedied!

Planetary Captains of Justice

After the Captain for a Day story i came up with, where Captain Marvel and Superman trade places for a day to make up for the damage they caused due to the lies of Captain Cold and Captain Boomerang; I decided to see what the rest of the Manga JLA would look like as members of the Global Captains of Industry. The story i came up with is; in a paralell universe, the Captains selflessly sacrificed themselves to save the world to stop a device meant to destroy to the JLA. Feeling responsible, the team not only hunted down the party responsible and sanctioned them, but they also felt the need to replace them as the global guardians, each with a continent under their protection.

Captain Bat: Komori Watanabe (formerly Batman)
(Europe) Shinobi Ronin; Master of Ninja arts and Samurai skills, expert detective

After leaving his home in the Hiden Regions of Japan, Captain Bat has set up his new base of operations in London, England. He left his proteges behind to continue running the Batclan in his absence. He uses the same appraoch in his new protectectorate, and operates a network of agents throughout Europe, known as Dark Knight, Inc. He has grown more distant as a result, which allows him to see each agent as expendable, always putting the mission first.

- I didnt want to call it Batman Inc, so I used Dark Knight for the expanded network. It made the most sense that in order for him to be everywhere at once he has to have agents all over the continent.
- I toyed with giving him a new cape/cowl, but it made sense that would be the only thing he kept from his original outfit.
- Having to leave his protege's would be a good excuse for him creating distance from his newer operatives, so he wouldnt get as connected to them. But he's vetted every member of his team and trusts them implicitly to carry out actions in his name.
- He can still summon A-Koumoriyasha to his location.

Captain Wonder: Megami Mikoto (formerly Wonder Woman)
(North America) Amazon Princess; Mystical Scepter

Megami relocated to Washington D.C. in the USA. As ambassador to the World of Man from her native Amazonian Nation, she decided that she had a role of equal importance on the world political stage in conjuncion to that of a superhero. She sought to impose her influence on the American president as well as the United Nations, but she grows weary of having to answer for her actions and always having to make concessions to these...men.

- Megami is more and more adopting her nation's distaste for the ways of man. She's lived in paradise for quite some time and is starting to think that a global monarchy will be the only way to cease the endless violence.
- I wanted her version of Captain Wonder to be reminiscent but wholly different from Steve Trevor's dreamscape version.
- I haven't decided what the fate of the Wondergirls is.

Captain Super: Kento Kuroki (formerly Superman)
(Asia) Solar charged super-strength and durability, flight and chi control. intergalactic martial arts mastery

Kento feels more and more like had he followed the foundations of his martial arts training things would be different. Instead of following around Lotus Ling and seeking personal glory in tournaments like Man of Steel, he needed to show more discipline. As such he has become more rigid, and seeks to impose discipline in his protectorate...whether his charges want it or not.

- Wanted Superman to feel personally responsible for the loss of the captains. Using his percieved lack of discipline was a godd lead in to a global takeover.
- Lotus finds that the positions have changed as she in now the one seeking out an audience with Captain Super and he wont give her the time of day...at least on the surface.

Captain Lantern: Harinezumi Jouon (formerly Green Lantern)
(Antarctica) Hard light generating alien weapons system

Hari has always felt more comfortable through the isolation that her lab and research brought her. She has turned to Antarctica as her new lab. Relatively alone, she conducts experiments trying to better the planet's people and ecosystem and feels like any issue she has to deal with as guardian of the continent just takes precious time away from her work. as a result she seems just as annoyed with the victims for needing help as she does with the culprits responsible for it.

- Wanted to amp up the coldness and sterility of a lab and figured the arctic tundra was the best example of that.
- She uses the lab that the Captain Yeti destroyed as well as Captain Cold's Lair as her bases of operation.
- It is undetermined if she's cut off communication with the Guardians.

Captain Aqua: Kaizen Arata (formerly Aquaman)
(South America) Undersea Samurai. Focus Sword; mimics Waterweaving ability

Kaizen is no longer a prince. He chose a JLA mission over his Kingdom and the Swords never found the Trident of Poseidon, leading to the destruction of his people. With no kingdom of his own to return to, He agreed to become a captain even though he resents the surface world for what he's lost. This was made even more evident when the Sword of Atlantis was destroyed sanctioning those who dispatched the original Captains. The lab techs crafte a new sword comprised of Focus Technology to allow him to utilized his water attunement in a similar manner as his lost waterweaving ability. He really could care less about people in general, but he is a King and a king needs subjects...

- Felt like i needed someone on the team to have Focus tech, as that has become a staple in the CoI. so I decided to lose the Sword of Atlantis, in such a way that would lead Aquaman to becoming disgruntled.
- For the same reason I not only got rid of Atlantis, but ALL the undersea cities.
- I wanted to utilize Aquaman's look where he was topless and bearded, and gave him the open jacket. Not sure if the beard will come in...it may
-

Captain Flash: Rei Tanaka (formerly Flash)
(Australia) Speedforce harnessing hypersuit pilot

Flash was always one to be aloof and lighthearted. That was until he realized that even with all of his speed, he wasnt fast enough to save the woman he loved. He was one of the biggest endorsers of taking the place of the captains, beliving he could still keep tabs on his city. He moved to Sydney, but always checked in. When Ayame Kaigainishi was killed investigating the hyper crime black market, Rei changed. Captain Flash disabled all of the hypertech in Chuuoutokai Province. He then disabled all of the other hypersuits when his action were called into question by Max Garrick and his nephew, Nishimaru. He was originally against the decision of the Captains to become more in control of things, but as the last holdout, is the final deciding vote in what will become the new world order.

- tried to make his hypersuit work with the captain's uniform. decided to streamline it. when he is in action the full hypersuit helmet activates.
- this version of the team plays out more like the animates series' Justice Lords thatn anything else
- rather than suffer from losing Flash, I chose to lose the entire CoI, which would give them a valid reason to replace them.
- Of course the whole point of this was to give them a reason to go against the JLA. What makes them different from the CSA ias that they are still trying to do right by everyone, they've just decided to stop letting the populace get in their own way of a perfect society...by any and all means.

Captain Hawk: Shayeara/ Kendra Takagawa (formerly Hawkgirl)
(Africa) Winged Thanagarian-Human hybrid; wields former mystic Tenshu Obake Karuta card, Mace of Winds.

With the events that led to the creation of the Justice League Nextwave team never occurring, Kendra was still operating as a solo hero except on her missions with the Birds of Prey when the Captains were killed. She had become friends with Batsu Booeki, and he had shared his secret with her after realizing how alike they were (teenagers with adult hero bodies). She took his murder personally, and intended to settle the score when the League found her on the trail of the CoI's killers. The allowed her to avenge the Captains alongside them, and when the decision was made to take over from them, she was given the protectorate of Africa. Kendra felt that after her actions, she couldn't return to her grandfather's shop as if nothing had changed when in fact everything had. Shayeara was pleased, as they chose to make Egypt their new base of operations, and she soon after began to whisper to her host of the times long ago when she ruled that land...

- Making Hawkgirl the final Captain of Justice made sense, as she was one of the original Justice Lords.
- Dropped her regular Ame-comi helmet to cover her eyes to give her a more cold/militaristic feel. I wanted to visualize her decision to distance herself from everyone other than her team after their actions.
- Africa also made the most sense, as it was where she and Qatar Ohl ruled after their arrival on earth. With Shayeara's past, it would also be another member who would justify the benefits of dictatorship.

Instead of Batman, why not an one-armed Green Arrow vs the Planetary Captains of Justice?

Of course!

But seriously, this is a pretty well done What if? story. Like I've said, the DC writers could learn a thing or two from stuff like this.

it's still there...

lol, to be honest, there are less leaguers than captains...but story wise, I may make Hawkgirl the new captain of Africa to keep in line with the justice Lords reference.

Haven't figured that out yet. I literally just came up with the ideas after drawing the costumes. I'll let you know when I do

Hmm. Aquaman's probably my favorite of the designs. I like the armor and I think a beard would be good for him.

Of these designs. I liked Green Lantern's design the best out of the original. The beard was for anyone.
