Justice League: Alpha
Centuries ago, the Earth's atmosphere was breeched by an alien entity. It landed in the ocean, where it encountered a powerful sorcerer. The warrior placed the entity in a state of suspended animation with his magic after a prolonged battle, and then buried it within a labyrinthine tomb with mystical wards all around to prevent it from ever resurfacing again. In the modern era, The Seven Sea Samurai of the underwater kingdoms of Atlantis, Lemuria, Dwarka, Su' Phala, Sommersa, Shindagha, and Rhakotis had commenced what would later be referred to as The Poseidon's Trident Quest. It was an unprecedented gathering that hadn't occurred since the times of the creation of the mystical swords that they carried. The Swords and their apprentices encountered deathtrap after deathtrap in the underwater catacomb, and even got split up on two separate occasions: one with the all the swords separated from their apprentices, and once when each sword wound up with an apprentice other than their own. Eventually, they all convened in a chamber that had extremely powerful wards throughout it. One of the more rash and impetuous Swords unwittingly released the monster that was so painstakingly hidden. it was an alien being in the form of a giant starfish. The Conqueror Star, as it would later be known by, flooded the chamber with a host of smaller versions of itself which attached itself to some of the Sea Samurai and apprentices' faces. They fought with the ones not controlled until The Aquaman, Prince Kaizen of Atlantis, was the last of the warriors not possessed by one of the Conqueror Star spores. Now with six of the seven Sea Samurai and their apprentices (as well as his own ) trying to kill him or force him to join them, Aquaman realized that the only way for him to survive was to flee. The giant Conqueror Star had readied itself to launch another host of spores as he jettisoned himself with his Waterweaving skill to the surface of the sea, followed by the spores into the sky. he escaped, but now the spores were on the surface as well as under the sea. The conqueror star had dispatched the Aqualad and the other Samurai back to their cities to spread its control over the sea dwellers. After the spores made their way to the surface, they started to make their way to the cities of the pacific, starting with Japan. Also, every few hours, the giant Conqueror Star would launch another host of spores through the water's surface to make its eventual take over that much faster. the spores would rain down in cities including Kyoshigai, Goth-Ahm prefecture, Chuuoutokai Province, Rikushigai City and others. Batman was safe within the caves of Mount Goth-Ahm, but his genin shinobi students were not as fortunate. The Demon Bat demanded that he go out and destroy the infected itself, but Batman would not risk the demon becoming part of the madness he was witnessing. since he didn't want to hurt his apprentices and could not retract their access to the caves, he sealed the Demon Bat in a hidden section of the caves that they didn't have access to (much to the Bat's unbridled rage). He then fled the caves in hopes to locate the source and a possible solution to this problem. Superman faced a similar situation in Kyoshigai. The members of his "S"-Fighters team had all succumbed to the spores except for himself and rather than hurt his friends, he fled. Superman saved Batman as he was surrounded by the entire league of Shadows and the combined noble shinobi clans. Eventually, the six heroes find each other and try to figure out a solution while on the run from all of their enemies, friends and normal people under the star's influence. They decide to take the alien head on, when Aquaman remembers the runes and legends and realizes that the sorcerer that originally defeated the starfish was Arion, Lord of Atlantis and that he had hidden the Trident of Poseidon there as a means to defeat it again. In teams of two, they split up: Green Lantern and Batman head to LexCorp Labs to locate a means to free the people from the alien without harming them, Flash and Aquaman go to the tomb to locate the Trident, and Wonder Woman and Superman take the fight directly to the alien and its defenders as a distraction for the others to finish their missions. Just as Superman is overcome and they place a starspore over his face, a dart filled with liquid nitrogen lands in the eye of the starspore. it falls off his face as he sees that Batman is responsible for saving him this time around. Batman and Green Lantern free as many of their allies and enemies that they persuade to help(if only for their own interests) and they continue to attack the giant star. it defends itself by attacking its own slaves. the heroes realize that with the star willing to kill its hostages, they can't resist any further. Flash races onto the scene with Aquaman in tow, carrying the Trident of Poseidon. he uses it to reverse summon the starspores off of the populace and into the atmosphere, where they burn up on re-entry. The Conqueror Star grabs Aquaman with a crushing tentacle to prevent him from doing the same to it. Flash and Green Lantern team up to launch the alien and his hostage into the sky, where Wonder Woman transforms her scepter into the Sword/Lasso/Shield combo to deflect a laser from the beast, cleave Aquaman free, and catch the unconscious samurai before he falls. Superman then grabs the giant and hurls it into space towards the sun like a monstrous shuriken. With the world's populace saved, the villains skulk off, the humans return to their normal lives, and the heroes decide that the world needs people like them to remain vigilant and defend it. They agree to form a League to ensure Justice for all and they will be the first to take up the call...the Alpha team to lead the way...Justice League: Alpha!

-I tried to have the World's Finest represented by them saving each other from certain defeat.
- I also tried to get in a Brave and Bold team-up where Flash and GL work together to start the final press to get rid of the alien.
- the piece that wonder woman cut to free Aquaman is retrieved by Lex Luthor.
-I wanted to use Starro as the catalyst for the formation of the team as Starro is the first villain to face the original Justice League of America in the comics.
- This pic has the first sign of Wonder Woman's transforming scepter.
- The Trident is lost at sea again when they finally defeat the alien, and the Sea Samurai continue their quest to find it.

I like the fact that Starro is not an alien, but actually a Sea Monster from Atlantis!

Actually...it is of alien origin, it just happened to wind up in the ocean when it arrived on this planet many moons ago.Β  Sorry if that ruins it for you...

No, but when you actually write the story, it could be interesting where the reader assumes it was of Atlantean origin, but then later learns that Starro actually tried to conquer our planet in ancient times but were defeated by the an equivalent Justice League of that era.

If you like this suggestion, I suggest you look into The League Of Ancients.Β  They were a team that killed The JLA when they time traveled into the ancient past to save Aquaman's people during Joe Casey's run on that comic.Β  But one of their members of The Ancients, Manitou Raven, kept the spirits of The JLA and resurrected them to battle The Leader of Ancients, Gamemnae, after she murdered her own team after learning she would be eventually defeated and forgotten in the future and then tried to force the modern world to worship her as a goddess.Β  It would be interesting it was the League Of Ancients who defeated Starro as Gamemnae gathered them to battle the creature and contain it.

I have already researched the league of ancients. In fact; Geo, the former Sword of Lemuria regains his earth based powers through use of the Gauntlet of Tezumak(who was a member) in my Outsiders pic.Β
