Here is the color version for my latest Manga JLA pic with the team as kids!

Patterned on my MangaJLA 4 group pic, this image is inspired by the comic’s Sins of Youth and DCUA JL episode Kid Stuff storylines. The Alpha Team of the Justice League is reduced in age and their personalities regress with them, however their core values remain the same…heroic.

Kid Flash: Rei Tanaka

Speedforce Harnessing Hypersuit pilot; Hyperkinetic speedster

I utilized a Kid Flash pic for reference. I also retracted his upper and lower portions of his face shield/helmet to more resemble Kid Flash. At one point I thought to have him wear the Zoom Hypersuit model, but then decided if Nishimaru could wear Issouku’s outfit by having it reconfigure to fit his smaller frame, then The Flash model should be capable of the same thing.

His younger personality is even more hyperactive than normal. The epitome of ADHD, Rei talks a mile a minute and randomly jumps from subject to subject. He can however focus intently when he’s running to wards a specific goal…if you can get him to sit still long enough to tell him what that is.

Wonder Girl: Megami Mikoto

Magical Princess; Enhanced strength, speed, and endurance; Enchanted armaments and scepter

I patterned Young Megami on Sailor Mini (Chibi) Moon. She still has her tiara and crown, but I decided to replace her golden hairpin with a red lace up for her ponytail. It was from an image I saw of Young Diana in a DC Wonder Woman book. I also gave her the solid white top her Wondergirl compatriots rock, as opposed to the sheer see-through top part of her uniform.

Personality-wise, Megami has reverted to acting and expecting to be treated as a princess. She has the Bossy big sister attitude Diana had in Kid Stuff. She is very assertive and self assured…perhaps, at times, to her own detriment. As her raiment is mystical in nature, it conformed to fit her new frame instantaneously.

Superboy: Kento Kuroki

Intergalactic Martial Artist; Solar charged super-strength and durability, flight and chi control.

I utilized an image of the Saiyan hero class character, Beat; from the first installment of Dragon Ball Heroes, as a foundation for this image. I also decided to use the Superboy outfit Kento wore as a child and would eventually give to Kona-Ku when he trained with Steel prior to the arrival of the Kryptonians; Zod, Non, and Ursa.

Kento reverts back to a time when he was even more naïve than he is currently. His personality is reminiscent of Kid Goku in the original Dragonball series. He is hesitant to hurt others, but finds combat fun and doesn’t know his own strength at times. His solar absorption body suit has the capabilities to adjust to his body type, as it has grown along with him over the years, but he returns to his Fortress of Solitude to retrieve one of his former training outfits to fit his younger body.

Batboy: Komori Watanabe

Shinobi Ronin; Mastery of various Ninja and Samurai arts, weapons, and tools

I decided against going with a smaller version of Komori’s outfit, and had him utilize the Batboy outfit that Daimyomaru wore when he first arrived in the Batcaves. I altered it slightly and added the blue elements to differentiate between the two Watanabe’s who wore the outfit. Pose was borrowed from a Pokemon trainer image.

Komori has reverted to being more of an isolated independent operative. However, he is even quicker to anger and frustration with the fact that his body isn’t as capable of certain feats…but that doesn’t stop him as his determination has remained, if not increased! When they are reduced in age Komori, no longer able to fit his clothes uses his Summoning Medallion to call forth the Demon Bat, A-Komoriyasha from the Batcaves, who after having a hearty laugh at his expense, brings him an outfit he can wear at his new size.

Aqualad: Prince Kaizen

Undersea Samurai; Mystical Waterweaving Sword of Atlantis

I used an image of Samanosuke that I found online as the foundation for this pose. I wanted to change up the type of armor that he wore as an apprentice, as I have previously shown that Apprentices upgrade their armor at the time of becoming a swordweilder. I was going to have him wear his topknot as well, but as he is still in possession of the Sword of Atlantis, despite his age…he is no apprentice.

At the time of the change, Kaizen too can no longer fit into his armor, and as Superman flies off to get an outfit he can wear, Kid Flash decides not only is he tired of him complaining (which amounted to about thirty seconds), but he wagers he can get Kaizen to Atlantis and back before Kento returns; without warning, he races to the Atlantean palace to swap out Kaizen’s armor for his retired training armor on display in the Great Armory. Kaizen’s personality has regressed and his is less assured of himself as he is at an age when all he did was follow the directives of his grandfather, Swordmaster Orin. He is almost consumed with his studies, and comes across as the consummate A-student/teacher’s pet/Hall Monitor. He reminds me a bit of Tenya Ida from My Hero Academia.

Pre-Teen Lantern: Harinezumi Jouon

Interstellar Law Enforcement Agent; Hard light generating alien weapons system

I decided to use the version of Hari’s Spectrum Lantern Corps teammate, Arisa’s costume for her younger self. I removed the boob window that highlighted her cleavage, as that is way inappropriate for her at this age. I decided to make her unbraid her hair and wear it out; wild and untamed, to harken back to why she was named Harinezumi (porcupine), with her wild spiky mane that she had from birth.

Hari is much less clinical than she normally is. She is very carefree and cavalier and quick to cut loose, a big change from her normal meticulous demeanor. As her Spectrum Lantern lightsuit is of alien origin, the technology allows for her to craft a better fitting suit. The defiance that she exhibits as Green Lantern as an adult, is in overdrive at this stage in her development; however, her intelligence is still quite in tact…as is her imagination.

Klarion, last surviving member of a dimensionally displaced tsukimono-suji clan grew bored and sought to entertain himself. Lamenting the fact that he had neither an opportunity to engage in childhood pursuits of fancy, nor any peers to share them with, he found a solution to his dilemma in the form of the eternal youth, Mordred of Camelot. Son of the sorceress, Morgaine le Fey, Mordred was granted immortality and eternal youth through his mother’s enchantments in her pursuit to have him survive long enough to witness the return of the Kingdom of Camelot allowing him to take his rightful place at its throne. A prisoner to his circumstance and robbed just as much of having a normal childhood, Mordred agrees to Klarion’s offer of a Play Date, and the two set off to making mischief. The chaos that ensues captures the attention of the Justice League, who after helping the victims in their wake, confront the two head on. When Morgaine learns of their exploits, she attempts to rein them in only to have the two boys scoff at the idea of having to cease their revelry at her behest. Klarion then, with Mordred’s consent, taps into the magic residing in the son to access the well of magic that is tethered to his mother to cast a spell banishing all adults from this plane of existence. When Morgaine realizes their treachery she quickly devises a plan to retaliate and reduces the ages of the Justice League, instantaneously transporting them back to whence they came. After coming up with a strategy (and acquiring proper fitting attire), they track down the terrible twosome and engage them in battle once more. Klarion threatens the Leaguers with his cat, causing them to laugh; unaware that the familiar is the source of much of his power, and shockingly watch it transform into a demonic half humanoid werebeast that attacks them furiously. Klarion and Morded had found the Young heroes entertaining and refused to banish them outright. They summoned mystical creatures for them to do battle with; inadvertently forcing them to use their perceived youthful detriments to their own advantage and once again relearn how to rely on teamwork. They afford enough of a distraction by creating conflict between the two boys, that their newfound power is severed and gives Morgaine the opportunity to return and undo the magic that was powering the banishment spell. After putting the two trouble starters on an interdimensional timeout, she thanks the Leaguers for their assistance, while debating on leaving them at their current ages. A few well placed shots from Wondergirl and Green Lantern and she returns them to their natural age and departs just to be rid of them.

- Tsukimono-suji are Japanese witch clans that are bound to mystical animal familiars that they are able to funnel their power from, such as kitsune (fox), tanuki (dog), or nekomata (cat).

- Klarion is a Neko-tsukai; demon cat user. Neko-tsukai gain power over their familiars in what is known as the Izuna-ho ritual.

- Klarion’s clan was persecuted for being tsukimon-suji and fled the plane for safety. They were tracked down and slaughtered. To save himself and avenge his family, he invited an ancient evil to possess him granting him more power than he, or his clan had even known.

- Teekl, Klarion’s familiar is a Nekomata that can assume the form of a normal cat, a werebeast, or a large prehistoric sabretooth tiger. It can also tap into wells of magic for Klarion to utilize through spellcasting.

- I toyed with the idea of the young heroes of the era coming to help them out, but chose not to. Perhaps they had their own adventure during this time…
