PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FULL-VIEW so you'll see the drawings. i mean, i may not be a great artist, but hey, this took quite some time to make! anyway, here's the write-up (and please pardon my campiness haha):

yes. the stuff of my childhood. and then some.

i nicked the explanations for some of them from the paraluman deviation.

mariposa - i actually forgot the title of the movie where this character came from. all i remember's that she was protrayed by either rita avila or christina gonzales. anyway, she's supposed to be a stripper/exotic dancer who was raped or at least wronged by the head of some gang. her dance act involves a buttefly mask, and the usage of the pseudonym mariposa. here, to add superhero flair to the character, i turned her into an entomologist specializing in lepidopterons. and, an extraordinary singer as well (to complement her exotic performances), so extraordinary, they affect, uh, lepidopterons. right.

phantom lady - a zorro-like vigilante character from a movie of the same title. the setting's during the japanese occupation era here. a blind girl was given a magical mask to make her see and thus defend the oppressed from, err, the oppressor (hey! don't blame me for the cheesiness, this is the actual plot of the movie!). anyway, she's the batman character in the team in that she's the most human here. or something.

blusang itim - from a VERY CAMPY romance movie of the same title. the name means "black dress" in english. anyway, a visually malodorous woman stumbles upon a black dress in some thrift shop. because of her good will and innate altruism, she is rewarder by the spirit of the blouse's former owner by making her beautiful whenever she wears the dress. here, she's like batman beyond's inque (or is it ink?), who can transform into virtually anything.

darna - the philippines' number 1 comic book heroine. nuff said. hehe

faye - well, there was a tv series and 2 movies with the title ok ka fairy ko, as well as another spin-off film. she's an encantada/diwata, a fairy. but then in the first 2 movies and the tv series, she's already a hosewife, so here i made her a teenager again.

galema - daughter of zuma. zuma is an immortal being who has two huge snakes sprouting from his back, and a liking for eating virgins' hearts. there has been 2 zuma films: zuma, and anak ni zuma (daughter of zuma). the premise of the second film is that he raped a virgin that gave birth to a reptile-man and a girl with 2 snakes on her shoulders. she's galema. apparently zuma fears her cuz her venom's the only thing that can harm him (from the film). here, i turned her into a biker chick.

dyesebel - dyesebel's a mermaid and the title of a couple of romantic fantasy films about a mermaid with the same name. anyway, i thought: how the fuck do i insert a mermaid heroine in a team?! i mean, imagine her battling in the streets (either she'll be coming in a vat filled with water, or, flip-flopping all over like a fish out of water). so, well, i made her capable of flight by virtue of some divine power (since, well, there's an old legend here about a goddess who's the personification of the sea winds).

super gee - a nora aunor starrer, during the 70s i think. motorcycle-riding, futuristic heroine.

isputnik - i guess named after the satellite (or rocket?). i saw a poster for a darna movie with another heroine in it: isputnik. i think the movie was made during the 50s or something, with isputnik being portrayed by the late Nida Blanca.

gagay - a comedy film about a girl who invented something. i think. here, she wields darkness. or something.

didi lim - from the lim family, the main characters in the old sitcom familia de horror - an adams family-esque bunch. her name, when said in filipino, translates to, "it shall be dark." (oh the camp...)

rosamystica - actually three enfleshed forms of the same person. this was actually a trio of romantic movies about a heaven-bound spirit sent back to earth to change lives of people via three mystical roses. here, i reworked their characters (obviously) into something very much different.

angel - a manilyn reynes tv series during the early 90s, i think. same concept as touched by an angel, only it preceeded it.

babaeng kidlat - a 70s movie about an electricity-wielding lady. there was another movie, i think, about a similar woman, but the title was elektra. i just merged both characters, though i'd like to attribute her powers more to meteorological phenomena (as opposed to, say volta. see below)

inday bote - in the maricel soriano movie, inday found a bottle with 7 elves/ dwarves (duende). their magic helped her get through several tight situations in her life. here, i made the duende into glowing spirit things. her costume's like that because there was a scene in the movie when the duendes transformed her into a ninja.

fantastika - a movie during the 70s. i have no idea how her costume looked like so i made up my own version. her character was special in that she could transform into her heroine self by kissing a magical ring.

krystala - from a recent tv series. her powers come from (surprise, surprise) a crystal.

inday sa balitaw - another maricel starrer. i forgot who was helping her with magic, inday was able to utilize enchanted bilaos (winnowing trays) to help her. there was this scene in the movie where inday rode a large bilao and had several enchanted bilaos attack the antagonists in the movie.

volta - another electricity-wielding heroine, the star of a somewhat recent superhero movie with the same title.

super inday - yet another maricel starrer (gotta love her). a spirit/angel was forced to take the form of a duck as a punishment for a crime she commited. she was sent to earth to do, uh, good deeds to help her gain points to get back to her original form. she attaches herself to inday's household as their pet duck. she lays magical eggs the contents of which, when inday drinks, transforms inday into super inday (how creative). she then fights evil alien creatures. she possesses super strength and flight. she also has 2 weapons: a palanggana (large basin for washing clothes) shield, and a golden palo palo (something people use to beat clothing to dry it) that can fire energy blasts (hey, this was actually in the movie!)

pepay paypay - starring tina paner. actually, i've forgotten most of this movie. all i remember's that there's a magical fan, and it can grow really big, and pepay rode it as it flew.

kokak - she was just cursed by a spirit to turn into a frog every now and then. here i remade her a-la toad from marvel.

super b - from a fantasy-comedy movie about a sexy, ditzy heroine. she can fly and has super strength. and huge boobs.

igorota - starring the late charito solis. this is no way related to the movie. lol the original was a (historical?) dramatic film. with no magical schtuff involved. (actually, her costume looks more like something from the southern tribes - i think. lol) she's holding a scythe and a big, heavy pestle (or is it mortar?!) traditionally used to pund rice grains to separate the husk from the part that you cook.
