Precious Archers:
Long ago, the line of succession to the throne of the Emperor was called into question when a set of twins were born. factions within the government saw an opportunity when the reigning emperor mysteriously took ill and groups formed under each child claiming to be the rightful heir. Eventually one was chosen, and the faction behind the other, of course cried foul. On the brink of civil war, the side chosen massed an army of samurai and ninja. the other side, had access to the kingdom's riches and enlisted the aid of an immortal to protect the young heir. The immortal Amethyst was the daughter of the goddess, Marishiten (goddess of wealth) who was revered as a tutelary deity of the warrior class. Marishiten (sister to the war god, Bishamon) was worshipped in Japan during the Middle Ages by warriors, especially archers. Amethyst gathered the riches of the faction protecting the child and offered them to her mother. she used the craft of creating enchanted weapons that she learned from Arion, son of Dainichi, to forge mystic jeweled armor and weapons to outfit an army great enough to defend against to joint samurai-shinobi army. the war commenced, and eventually came to a conclusion. the realm was split between the two emperors. one side would become what would later referred as the Hidden Regions. After the death of the other emperor, he would have the battalions of Precious Archers equipment buried with him.

Emerald Archer: Ori Kisaki (Green Arrow: Oliver Queen)

After freeing himself from the tomb that Kisai Mahoutsukai left him in, Ori saw that Kisai had slaughtered the rest of his team from the dig as he fled. Ori made his way back to civilization, and acquired a truck to get out the armors and arrows that weren't buried in the main chamber. he drove the truck, but was attacked on the road by Kisai. while trying to evade him, he lost control of the vehicle and crashes. He and Kisai get into a firefight with the precious arrows, during which time, Thomas Atkins (aka The Signalman) seizes the opportunity to raid the truck for the armor and arrows of the Sapphire Archer. he escapes without either archer being aware of the act of theft. Kisaki gains the advantage and is able to flee with the truck in the confusion. It isn't until he reaches his destination that he realizes he'd lost some of his cargo. He uses some of the artifacts and jewels from the emperor's burial chamber to renovate his mentor's floundering museum and return it to its former glory. it also doubles as his base of operations in the sub levels. After acquiring his first apprentice, he gets involved with the group the 7 Soldiers of Victory prior to becoming co-leader of the second group of Justice League heroes known as the Nextwave.

Ruby Archer: Ryo Hama (Red Arrow: Roy Harper)

A disenfranchised youth, Ryo lived on the streets when his parents died. he did what he had to do to survive on the streets, until he was taken in by a casino owner from the states named, Thomas Brave Bow. owning a number of Casinos on Navajo reservations, Brave Bow decided to expand his enterprise to Japan in a new venture. He made Ryo earn his keep and work his way up in the organization. Showing a penchant for archery, it became a big event at the casino where he could make money for himself taking on challengers. when corrupt businessmen tried to take over what was proving to be a lucrative establishment, Brave Bow was brutally beaten. he requested that his friend, the Emerald Archer take the boy under his protection. Ryo has difficulty with anger management.

Jade Archer: Takasouru (Green Arrow: Connor Hawke)
Zen Archer; Inheritor of the Precious Arrows of the Jade Archer Brigade
After having his heart broken by Zashiki, the Red Canary, Ori abandoned his studies and got himself into trouble...a lot. on one of those occasions, he met a young woman who helped him see past his own self indulgence, see the value in putting the needs of others before himself, and helped repair his broken heart. before leaving she spent a night with him, and he never saw her again. however, due to the time they spent together, her leaving had a totally different effect than that of the young Canary's. He rededicated himself to his studies and went on to become an archeologist. The young lady returned to the order of nuns she had abandoned, as her time with Ori had moved her to rededicate herself to her cause as well. When she gave birth to a son, he was sent to be raised by the order of monks that were affiliated with the nuns. The boy, Takasouru, was raised like a monk. At a very young age, he began to show signs of becoming a master practitioner of Zen Buddhism. He practiced the art of kyudo to assist him in his enlightenment training. When The Emerald Archer and his apprentice arrived at the monastery on a mission, they met they young monk who assisted them on their journey to defend that nuns who were being targeted. During the mission, Ori met his old love again. She instantly recognized her child, but didn't reveal his identity to Ori until she was fatally wounded. It was while Ori was tending to her, that they were surrounded by enemies and the young monk picked up the emerald bow and used his zen meditation to fire one arrow to take out all of the targets. After burying his mother, Takasouru decided to return with the archers, and Ori offered him the Precious Jade Arrows and Bow.

Gilded Archer: Mai Doketishiku (Speedy: Mia Dearden)

Mai is the daughter of an affluent Japanese businessman. She is on her school's archery team and is rivals with Tsukiko Aramaki (who is secretly Wondergirl Artemesia: The Hunter) of the Marsten Academy for Gifted Young Ladies. She is spoiled but good natured. when she becomes aware of the Emerald Archer's crusade to take the ill gotten goods from the rich and return them to those who need it most, she discovers that her father is one of those people. When Ori sees her determination to the cause, he gives her the Gilded bow and arrows. unable to wear the entire suit of armor, she dons the Gilded Muneate (chestplate) which mystically offers her protection (albeit, not as much as the full suit will...once she can fit it).

Diamond Archer: Banni Kokuou (Arrowette I: Bonnie King)

A grifter, Banni was in the practice of getting close to men of wealth and then robbing them before disappearing to move on to the next mark and do it again. She became pregnant and eventually had a daughter that she would incorporate into her cons. She eventually crossed paths with a world renowned archeologist named Colorado Jones. Surprisingly, she fell in love with and married her mark, and gave up her plans on trying to con him. Eventually she grew more and more jealous of the time he spent immersed in his work and in an attempt to elicit some emotion from him, became involved with his head of security, Kisai Mahoutsukai. He convinced her that Jones would never place her first and that he would never provide her with the riches nor the attention she desired. When they found the tomb of the Emperor, Kisai came up with a plan to get rich. He betrayed them both stabbing them with a dagger, which led into the fight with Jones' apprentice, Ori Kisaki. Leaving her for dead, she was trapped in the cave in that Kisai caused. As she lay dying, she was approached by the goddess, Marishiten. In return for becoming her acolyte, Marishiten healed her and she trained her in her kyu-do craft and left her with the bow, arrows and armor of both the Diamond and Pearl battalions. She reunited her with her daughter so that she would train her daughter in the art as well.

Pearl Archer: Mayumi Kokuou-Jones (Arrowette II: Cissie King-Jones)

When her mother finally returned to her, after thinking she was abandoned, Mayumi was distressed to hear the true reasons that she was away from her so long. she had hated her mother for thinking she abandoned her(which she had initially planned) and felt guilty for how she cursed her over the years. she took up her mother's cause and trained with the weapons that her mother was given by Marishiten. Eventually, she discovered that her mother was still obsessed with the man that had caused all her grief, Kisai Mahoutsukai (even if now she wanted him dead). She eventually rebels and leaves Hoshitokai and travels to the hidden region of Japan to seek out The Obsidian Archer and dispatch him to grant her mother peace(and also take away the one thing she wants most). In the process, she becomes a member of a team of Teen Titans seeking justice.

Sapphire Archer: Thomas Atkins (Blue Bowman/Signalman: Phil Cobb)

The former Signalman came across the armor, bow and arrows of the Sapphire Archers when Ori Kisaki was transporting them from the burial chamber he had discovered to his new base of operations. Atkins saw the good fortune as a sign and donned the armor and took the weapons and fled. It wasn't until Ori made it to his destination that he realized they were missing. After establishing his presence in Hoshitokai as its resident protector, The Emerald Archer would come into contact with the Sapphire Archer in the midst of stopping crimes. He was never truly sure if he was there to assist or take the spoils for himself. Both Ori and Kisai tried to sway the bowman to join their side. On a number of occasions, they've fought against, and alongside each other. After determining that Atkins was actually using his arrows to help others, he gave him the extra quiver of Precious Sapphire Arrows that Atkins left behind when he stole his set.

Kisai Mahoutsukai joined the League of Shadows and quickly made a name for himself. Onishisoku, The Demon's Head, took note and watched his ascension in the league. He was unmatched in his skill of archery. At times, he was sent in to assist others as a "closer" (an agent who is brought in to ensure the successful completion of a mission). He is given a lot of leeway in regards to his free time. He is also one of the agents tasked with expanding the league's influence outside of the borders of The Hidden Regions. He takes on an apprentice of his own after encountering those of his nemesis, Ori Kisaki.

Shado:
Longbow Hunter; Inheritor of the Precious Arrows of the Onyx Archer Brigade

After joining the League of Shadows, The Obsidian Archer went on a mission that pitted him against the famed Longbow Hunters which were currently in the employ of the Yakuza of Hoshitoakai. To achieve his objective, he wound up slaying them all, but recognized their skill. as he was claiming his prize , he barely avoided being killed by the arrow of a young longbow hunter who had gone unseen. impressed by her ability to remain hidden, he struck up a conversation with the young archer who continued trying to kill him. she raged that the hunters were her last chance to avenge the honor of her father, until he offered a counter-proposal. He would continue her training. She accepted, but had to prove her loyalty. after working with him on a number of missions, he eventually granted her use of the Onyx Arrows. He told her that she would eventually be bestowed the armor as well...if she proved worthy of it.

-Hoshitokai translates as Star City.
- I tried to use names that employed the use of the same letters when i could; Roy-Ryo, Mia-Mai...
- Jade archer only carries one arrow. He uses his zen mastery to maximize his shots per launch.
- When the attraction occurs between Takasouru and the young kunoichi Black Canary, Ori and Zashiki try to keep them away from each other as they may be siblings...
- Amethyst is also the "step-daughter" of Dainichi.
- Colorado Jones is a nod of course to Indiana Jones, as well as a way to keep Arrowette's name hyphenated.
- There is an enchantment preventing access to the rest of the chamber to retrieve any more of the armor or arrows that were buried in the main chamber.
-Marishiten blessed the enchanted weapons that her daughter had created, but she crafted the bow and arrows for her brother, Bishamon that is currently in the possession of Wondergirl Artemisia.
- I chose the name "Tommy Atkins" for the Sapphire archer as that is the term used to refer to a British soldier, and the classification of Signalman was in the British military.
