Description
Pankendra is a female Nereid born under the star of Neptune, she possesses a couple of interesting traits and has changed a lot during her late teenage years. She has lived in a higher rank family of draconic Nereids so she didn't have to face poverty and was able to be spoiled by her parents as she is an only child. After getting the news of her fathers death she had to take care of her aged mother and to work towards getting vengeance, while also maintaining her jewelry crafting career which she loved as the Nereids often liked her various creations which were inspired and based on the ocean

Physical appearance :             It is inspired by a Blue Phantom Pleco

Pankendra has both gills and nostrils, her private areas are covered by a mixture of kelp and scales with bioluminescent abilities, she has an azure crystal necklace with a kelpie string and kelpie bracelets which were made by her father to help define her glowing and beautiful personality, her hair is similar to fur, but isn't affected by water so it still looks flowing at all times, she has two giant translucent fins with glowing markings on her back which look like wings (to still look somewhat draconic) but they are just decorative fins, she can't actually use them to fly or anything in that sort of deal. She has half-circle shaped scales growing around her eyes for protection. Pankendra has crystal blue eyes and a singular horn on her forehead. There are also some decorative fins and fins which help her swim better on her hips at the start of her tail. She has webbed palms to help maneuver underwater quicker.

Backstory :


When Pankendra was still a young child she had a kind and caring personality. She loved to spend time with others of her age, especially when she could showcase her physical traits which were unique to her lineage. There were only few hundreds of Nereids which had the possibility to have such a body. It was always astounding for her to hear stories of the other Nereid's parents how they have travelled the land, seen various interesting creatures and sights. It always entranced Pankendra as she would imagine herself travelling, befriending everyone and showing kindness to other races. She has been taught that the other races and elements are beneath Nereids and should be looked down upon, not as equals, but with her naive, kind and selfless heart Pankendra always believed that there was a way to bring all elements and races together as allies to make Eretaria safer for everyone. She believed it was possible because even if it has been only once in her childhood that an elder Nereid spoke of fairy equality with his same story how "in my young days" he got saved by a strange looking fairy which he couldn't recognize, but clearly could tell it wasn't a Nereid so it got to him to rethink the whole situation between all of the races and how at core they aren't that different. Everyone just calls him insane and treats him like he has lost his mind as from that time when he came back he had a serious head injury (which could have caused a hallucination of this sort and damaged his brain enough to make him forget some of the core beliefs). The only reason Pankendra actually paid attention and wanted to believe its truth and wisdom was because of her kind nature and because the old Nereid was her great grandfather from her father's side. They were really close to eachother, but after that one time, her parents found out and threatened the old Nereid to not speak of his 'nonsense again and to stop corrupting young Pankendra's naive mind'.


When Pankendra got older she got much more curious of the world surrounding her, when she was closing into the end of her teenage years Pankendra decided that it is time for her to discover the vast land of Eretaria outside of the Nereid kingdom and what she has been taught, even though her parents advised her to first practice her elemental attacks and to be wary of the other fairies or to even stay at her home kingdom where it was safe and to focus on her jewelry craftsmanship which Pankendra found to be good at. Despite her parents' suggestions she had already decided to go explore with her childish wander and beliefs that she would be able to befriend anyone she crosses paths with. But the first day she was out she got hurt by a puppet which was trying to grab her jewelry, at other points of her travel she would encounter various fairies or humans in trouble, Pankendra always tried helping only to be greeted by mockery and slander especially that she was the one to initiate the dangerous situation.Even though she tried her best to keep believing this was just bad timing and placing, that she can still find connections and form friendships between everyone, getting treated like this slowly started infuriating her more and more over time. Every time she would think to herself "These ungrateful idiots..." After a while she returned home, to a tragedy. Her father had left in search of her because of his worried heart and it was rumored that he has gotten killed for trespassing. It was still unidentified if it was true and who might have done it.



When Pankendra grew of age she had chosen her core values: family, nation and survival. She remained kind to the other Nereids, often helping them out, but she was spiteful, cruel to others often showing traits or narcissism. She wasn't going to be nice to anyone, but Nereids until she gets her vengeance for father's death. Pankendra would work on the various jewelry which reminded her of the days she would spend with father learning from him how to form and add glow, sparkle to specific types of shells, corals and kelp. It would bring tears to her eyes, but at least she would feel close to him and be able to express her inner thoughts through creation. There would even be times when she would receive orders from royalty as well, but it has only happened twice in her life. After she would be done working Pankendra would try and train her elemental abilities, sometimes taking lessons from her mother when she would be feeling well enough. She dedicates at least a week each month to look for evidence and perhaps witnesses who saw her father. When Pankendra will find the culprit of her father's death she will finally be able to unleash her wrath and vengeance held inside her heart. It would help regain her tolerance for other races, but now she would never be able trust anyone besides her own kind.



I know my artwork looks poor in comparison to Teki's or the other participants in the contest, but I really wanted to take part in it as well
