Description This is my entry for the "Spring Has Sprung" contest over at the Spice-and-Wolf-FC group here on dA: A hand-made cel painting with acrylic background of Norah the shepherdess, who simply doesn't get enough love compared to Holo.

The mountains and valleys are starting to thaw as Spring approaches. Norah found the first flower of Spring--and her dumb sheep is trying to eat it!

Also in the background, her flock's in the valley being chased around by Enek.


[The blurriness on her leg is due to scanner logistical problems: my background was on a big board that I taped the cel onto, and it hung down over the scanner.]

Yeah, and you know what else is funny? I personally hate that stupid sheep now, too.

Took me forever to draw the thing. My wife was saying, "You should make it look more like it's trying to eat the flower," and I was going, "I can't! I don't know how to draw a freakin' sheep to begin with!" I used the manga to figure out the head and eyes, and lots of trial and error on the rest of it until it looked good. But by the end, I wanted to smack it with a stick, too.

Thanks. It's the most time I've spent on a background so far. I usually just don't do them, or rush something in as an afterthought. I challenged myself for this one.
