Gimp is fun to use, because I can use Image>Mode>Indexed to swap palettes with any images, even mine(Usually).

I'm from "Old School" /film cameras & custom printing (wet process). A friend installed the Gimp on my laptop ,showed me a manipulation and it was like an inspirational bomb went off. I,m learning, exploring, and trying to create art. Can't get enough my friends!

I used to use Photoshop. Then we had to reboot our computer and Photoshop went bye-bi. So I gave GIMP a try. All I can say is...NO REGRETS!

if you still need to know, i went to www.wikipedia.org, typed in gimp, and the link to the site is on the right hand sidebar. you can read some info about it on the same page or go straight to the web site and read some more there too. 2.8.2 is the most recent i got and the site will let you know what OS is compatible, etc

i seriously disagree with you, my editor wanted me to use photoshop and i refused, because i just prefer gimp. there is no equivalence, just different needs depending of the artist.

I love Gimp, but i have yet to figure out how to get a smooth line on it, like on the very bottom picture here of a line, the sides of it are very bumpy [link] and it just prevents me from drawing anything, so i mainly do manipulations, which i like doing
