It was an amazing sight to see. But there are 3 more in the next 18 months!Β The next one is due Oct. 8 at 6:25 am EST, followed by blood moons April 4, 2015, and Sept. 28, 2015, according to NASA.

If it occurs in April it will Β actually be called a pink moon. Any other month it is a Blood Moon. And I totally agree. It is quite a sight to see.^^

It wasn't very pink. It was rather crimson in colour, like a red Pascha/Easter Egg.

Aha, it is an American Indian name. It sayd, "Just as the famed Blue Moon isnβt blue, the Pink Moon β except for evenings like this β isnβt pinker in color than any other full moon. The nickname was given to the April full moon by Native Americans, who associated it with the appearance of blooming moss pink (wild ground phlox). Other names for the April full moon are the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon." but Wikipedia says that only the eggs moon name was used as recently as 1918. The pink moon legend did not see print until the 1930's and of course, according to these sites, it is called a pink moon even when it is white, so one could call this a Pink Blood Moon or Blood Pink Moon and the one in October a Blood Hunter's Moon or Hunter's Blood Moon. Β But however we want to call it, Luna was red and it was marvelous to see.

I would have to ask my grandfather for the exact date and I am of mix. It's actually almost all tribes that celebrate it. I can send a note over with the pink moon explanations, and a link to my favorite festival held for it.^^
