Description This is the armor I've been making for the past 2 months. It's made out of Worbla. A thermoplastic that you can heat up and mold to any shape you'd like. I've made a suit of N7 armor out of EVA foam and compared to worbla foam is just horrid to work with. Worbla is the only way to go now! ^_^ I used templates based off of the ME2 female armor to create my own for ME3. The breastplate was probably the most difficult piece I had to make and had to redo multiple times but with some suggestions from my husband I figured it out and it's awesome. My favorite piece are my abs. Each ab piece is separate and is moveable so it's easier to bend over and sit! It's harnessed together with the back spine piece so I don't have to worry about any pieces looking abnormal. I didn't make a harness for my first set of armor and I'm so glad I did for this one.

I used the worbla/craft/worbla technique that quite a few cosplayers use when working with worbla. I usually used the 2mm craftfoam but there are some pieces with thicker foam as well. I also Gesso'd the hell out of everything. However, I think my next set of armor I'm not going to just to see the difference in texture. Also, I hand sanded everything which was a pain because I didn't own an electric sander until the LAST PIECE! Ugh! All the colored paint (red/white/metallic) were hand painting on while the black was Rustloeum(sp) flat spray and then to finish a gloss coat of enamel. All strapping was done with nylon and elastic.

I'm super excited to wear this around cons! There are a few details that I need to fix and add such as the belt and tailor some of the straps but other than that it is finished! Unfortunately I won't be able to attach lights before the con but they'll be in for the next convention after!

Commander Shepard will be debuted at Dragon*con this year! Only a couple weeks away!

What is that cool honeycomb looking texture on your back? is it elastic or nylon or something else?

It's carbon fiber vinyl. Β It's also on the front chest piece but it's hard to see from this picture. Β You can get wraps of the vinyl from Amazon in different colors!Β

out of curiosity where did you get the nylon straps and elastic? Brand as well? Thanks! I'm making some armor myself and I never thought use using nylon and elastic! Your armor looks great! Hope Dragon con was fun!
