A portrait of a greyhound named Jazz. This is the first of a series of 5 greyhounds that I'll be doing. This is an 8x10 pencil...I used graphite pencils for the basic tones and mechanical for the details
One of the first backgrounds I've done in a long time...somewhat difficult because I didn't want to distract the viewer from the main subject at all, but I didn't want the poor dog to float in space, so I tried to make it simple yet just detailed enough to ground the hound. I like how it came out 
EDIT: Just uploaded a darker version because the scan looked a little light and it was sortof bugging me. Maybe it's just my computer screen, who knows. Looks more like it does in RL now, at least on this screen.

AAAA!!! GREYHOUND!!! I love her! This is so beautiful! I am especially amazed at how well you captured the greying look on her face, making it look subtle. Beautiful...beautiful...beautiful. And you couldn't have chosen a better subject matter.

I think it's spectacular! The detail is amazing! The only thing I find looks a little off is the contrast between the head and the background, but that's very minor, and it's a very hard thing to accomplish when you're adding a background to a piece. Excellent work!

Did you go to drawing classes to learn how to use the penicl better? Cause I just can't seem to improve my tecnique... Always look alittle cheap when I draw... But again: amazing!! D
