Hi sorry for the advertising it would be amazing if I could steal a bit of your time to read this comment! Just tell me to hide this comment if you do not want advertising on your page. Again I apologise if this annoys you. I am asking you to check out my group/project bEqual . Have you ever thought about gender equality and /or gender inequality? This group’s focus is to raise awareness about this issue. It is a serious group and so far we only have statistics on Australia with Women in Poverty. If you could watch the group and maybe participate in Discussion that would be amazing. IF you are passionate and want to write blogs etc ask to join! We need members and more information on statistics around the world anyway. Even you could help but just spreading the word about the group, maybe just writing a journal or a piece of art or a story anything! Thank you for reading this! It means a lot. People's emotions get the better of them on topics like this. I want my opinions to be of real research and sound mind behind them. Islam is a religion, a culture, and a society which should be broken apart for true study.
It has a long history and has covered many parts of the world. I am not pro or anti anything. What is today, isn't what it used to be. The west or any other part of the world are all guilty of something, we shouldn't be throwing rocks at each other.
We should create something new and better then what has come before us. We can do better.

I'd like to point out that this complete hiding of the face is not in Islam and its just for extremests these days. and you can ask your self if you're married and your husband can see your naibor always in the "free" way you are talking about, would that be good for your marriage! and just a reminder in other religions nuns etc also dress almost the same, and hide their hair.

This makes me really sad. Some people say that western women have to wear tiny clothes to feel beautiful. Well, I wear little clothes because I get hot in the summer. I have an issue with religions in general because they all believe that women need to be subservient and are property. There's an independent movie called The Stoning of Saroya M. that some of you should google. It's really quite sad. I'm glad I live in a place where I can go outside and not be afraid, to not fear people looking at me. What is wrong with being looked at? What is wrong with being admired for our beauty?

thanks for posting those links. The second article really struck a chord with me. There are times where I think I've got some feminism in me, but the fact that some of the European countries are trying to ban the niqab and burqa doesnt seem entirely fair.
True, no one should have to hide their face from the world, but at the same time, the argument in that second article seems to explain their feelinsg pretty well. Maybe we as American's are just so set on the way things are here that we can't open our eyes and see that maybe being loud and proud isn't what life's all about for women everywhere?

There really isn't anything wrong with being religious, it's when you go to the extreme and use to it make women into objects and property. I'm very unhappy with how our culture objectifies women. Women have to choose for themselves if they want to be subtly sexy or just plain slutty. It's all up to us.
By the way, I'm a big fan of the song in your signature. I'm not the biggest Eminem fan but I love that song.
