Freedom from the lust of us men (this is deviant art after all), freedom from kufr and into the liberation of Islam and Tawheed.

No, it's hijab and niqab... not a burqa.

This is really ironic from my point of view. How is a woman covered head to toe free? If anything she's a prisoner.

Coming from a CONVERT NIQABI who chose it on her OWN without influence of culture, family, or anyone other than the QURAN and ALLAH, I say thank you for this picture It is not in fact a burqa, a burqa covers the eyes too, this is Niqab and that only refers to the covering of the bottom half of the face. The whole head covering is also hijab too. Don't listen to those who have no idea what they are saying when they say I made a wrong choice when I was young, I didn't, I know what I'm doing. Obeying Allah's orders, and it DOES protect me from men believe me. It DOES NOT make me a sex object, quite the opposite. It helps people focus on my WORDS rather than on my face. And I don't have a hard time expressing myself at all, my eyes, words, and actions are enough. Thank you for this, salaam.

Isn't that a Burqa? Both Hijab and Burqa should be an option.

in Islam, a woman is free to choose. either wear it and please God or not to wear it and displease God. no one has the right to force her. and God is the judge in the end.
unfortunately, in some strict families, the girls are forced to wear the hijab. this is because of their tradition. Islam is not to blame because it states clearly that there is no compultion in religion.

you're right i really don't get it , how can restriction of freedom be freedom ?
and what's presented in the picture is not Hijab it's Burqa i know many girls who wears the hijab i've got nothing against it if it's what they want , but women wearing burqa are really hard to deal with. 80% of human interaction is body language and face expressions, if the other person hides it from you it's a restriction for her freedom and yours.
it's all messed up.

if a woman wears mini-skirt, that's freedom. if she wears pants, that's freedom. if she wears bikini, that's freedom. but if she wears Hijab, then that's restriction for her freedom!!! maybe we need to agree what is the definition of freedom first.
by the way, you have a misunderstanding of what a Hijab is. you have to know that Burqa IS a hijab. hijab is not just one kind of clothes. and it's not just clothes. it's a general word that can refer to so many.
this "understanding Hijab for dummies" comic may help you have a good idea about it: [link]

i live in a "Muslim" society, so i don't need you to explain what Hijab means or why girls wear it.
i know it's something forced by family and society ,or a mistake made when she was young and easily persuaded .
and i tell you that i'm ok with Hijab if it's a girls choice , but i'm against Burqa whether it's her choice or someone else's .
it does more harm to the woman than help. it makes her a sex object and strips her form her humanity.

oh damn i chose to be a black claded sex object...wtf.
I have my humanity , i choose to protect my beauty and only keep it for my husband...is that so evil?
I wear niqab of my own choice and did so before marriage and niqab is what brought me to Islam actually.
I can still live like a person like you, I go study and I can go work, people still understand what I'm saying and if i'm talking to quietly they ask me again what I said...no issue in communication or socializing.
So i dont see your point.
I dont see how being modest to a very high point is deeming yourself as a sex object for men to screw around with...
I actually feel more free, confident ect being covered then when i was a non muslim and wearing a t-shirt that showed by breasts off (and its damn hard to find a shirt that covers that area)

living in a muslim society doesn't mean you "understands everything". you (or me or anyone) may miss some details or may understand things in different ways...
maybe Hijab is forced in your family or where you live, but believe me, there are so many families that don't force Hijab on their girls.
you may be against Burqa, that's your opinion and you are free, as long as it's not forced on those who don't share it.
if a burqa makes a woman a sex object, I wonder what a mini-skirt makes her?

shady-zaher In reply to FullWhiteMoon [2010-03-21 22:55:11 +0000 UTC]
in my family we don't force anyone to do anything.
and for those families that don't force it upon their girls , girls may have the option to wear it , but not the option to take it off if they don't believe that they need it anymore.
i believe that a woman can wear whatever she wants and no matter what she wears men must respect her and treat her equally.
there is no need to hide women behind curtains to keep her safe, see Egypt for example; almost all the girls there wear Hijab but still they get harassed and molested . so protection is no longer a reason to hold on to it. then you'll tell me they wear it because God said so . and i'll say it's ok God talked about Decency and didn't say Burqa .
ps.
i maybe against Burqa as an idea but i'm 100% against banning it, as i'm 100% against forcing women in Saudia Arabia to wear it.

It wasn't a question in fact.. . it was about "1984".
I think your way to introduce hijab is quite close to "Newspeak" Georges Orwell in his book.
