Impact
Love of beauty is impulsive; Like most images which strike me, I had added this to my favourites immediately. Because your work inspires me, I want to try discovering what makes it great.
caves is successful in that its impact is generated both by the subject matter, the visual composition, and the connection you elegantly establish between the two.
Formally, the multidirectional lines and asymmetry evoke disarray. This is quieted by color and our unyielding recognition of the objects and setting. Your body balances the arrangement.
There appear to be tactical contradictions. You are hiding your face, yet you are exposed. Your figure is framed, and consequently emphasized, by sticks in the middle ground. Your two tones are bold against your surroundings, but there is a shared neutral range that links you. Blue jeans are the sole industrial component.
The tree is wild and organic. Your position embraces it, emulates it, and creates an energetic harmony. Each of your limbs is oriented parallel to a neighboring branch, suggesting a shared state of what could be motion or rest.
You become an element of your environment, and subsequently, the most distinguished.
As a static image, and if the viewer surrenders familiarity and experience, it is impossible to tell whether you are shaping yourself to become part of the forest, whether the forest is evolving itself to become part of you, or whether you've originated together from the same roots.
The depth of field generates one last riddle. The background reveals what can be perceived as an infinite series of trees... omnipresent and overpowering to a solitary human presence... or perhaps each holding a man at its roots.
I really love this piece. Profound, without doubt. Many thanks for sharing.

I cannot quite believe that you wrote such wonderful thing about a piece of mine. I am not quite a humble person, so of course I will admit that things as the disarray or the parallels were something I thought of before hand, and seeing you appreciating exactly these things right now fills me with a lot of pride and happiness about my own piece. it means a very great deal to me to see someone getting in touch with what I create and, moreover, trying to figure it out. your thoughts to what it could mean are very interesting, and open up many doors to my own work.
thank you for sharing this. it means a lot!

I'm sure I missed out on the profoundness of the photo itself, simply because I totally want to go 8-year-old and find a good forest nearby to make forts like that. :3
