Sometimes, when I see an image like this, I think "wow, simply perfect."
Then I really think about it and I realize that I'm looking at a young woman's behind, and realize hers is but one of hundreds, or thousands, or maybe even tens of thousands of butts I'll see in a lifetime -- some admired, some not, some indifferent to.
I realize that compared to all other lovely things this is a simple fannie belonging to a woman I don't know and I'll never meet, so there's no relational affection here.
Her bottom is beautiful but so is nature, and certain cars, and stars, and flowers, and Leica lenses and .... all sorts of things.
I realize how utterly simple-minded I must be to enjoy this photo of something so clearly simplistic, human, and yet inanimate as a photograph.
I realize that I could see more of her and be happy, but not less.
Is this shot "sexy"? -- Yes, it is, in an idealistic way. In the sort of way that makes you wonder what she's thinking at the moment Nikos presses the shutter.
Is this shot "erotic"? No -- eroticism needs more story, a direct link to some memory or fantasy.
What we have is a moving connection to a definition of beauty and form coming together in light that tells a story of youth, relaxation, and sexiness all rolled into one brilliant demonstration of simplicity. Perfect.
