I dare you all...to take a step back, and stop being all political about everything. People are getting so worked up. It's goofy.I feel bad for Jark, but I don't think he wants people to quit deviantart because of what's happened.
So yeah. That's what my previous "He wants you" picture was about, but it seemed few people got it. x--x
A quick sketchi thing. 2 hours.

I've read all of it, and both sides are full of propaganda. I don't know what to think, so I'm not making any big judgments about either side.
This 'make popular artists more popular' bit is a misinterpretation that people seized and spread around. When I read those 'scaling the deviants' journals, it seemed to me that he was talking about how popular people had become popular so far. He was pointing out what all the popular people had in common, and what they had done to become popular. Basically..."Hey. If you want to be popular, try doing what these popular artists did. Be active, submit polished work frequently, and have a lot of the work be unique." He was giving tips to anybody that was struggling to get noticed.
If I'm thinking of the wrong journal, then please show me where he talked about a plan to make popular people more popular.
Making popular people more popular is not part of "The Company's " evil scheme.
What they HAVE done wrong is discharging Jark+founders so suddenly and without explanation.
Neither side will give answers. They just give noble sob stories...beating around the bush with propaganda.
I must admit, I lean more towards Jark’s side of the story…and I appreciate all that he has done for deviantart.
With so much propaganda floating around, I don't think it is wise for people to let themselves get so worked up about all this. Nobody really KNOWS the truth. Until I know the truth, I'm not going to get my panties all tied up in a knot. I'm not going to promote the destruction of the deviantart community by joining one side or another. Yes....deviantart is splitting, tearing apart into two feuding factions. Instead, I'll continue doing my best to support the WHOLE community…the community I found when I first got here. I'll do my best to keep posting things people smile at, and to keep commenting on others' work.

nice one in don't know how long this has been here but i just found it im fairly new to this myself i like what you have done (taking a stand in the middle and i will join that stand)

Wonderful proposition. I've also been feeling like I don't know enough facts, from either side, to make a decision. I just want dA & the community to be at peace again. If Jark was booted for wrong reasons, then by all means we should support him & try to make sure that that changes. But if there were reasons... Well, I'm just glad that you, as a 'popular artist' ^_^ went ahead and posted this. Way to set a good example

what happened? i'm just an unknown member who avoids politicing, but you DO know that every single good forum/club/internet community that's reasonably well known ends up splitting? i used to be on a forum (flashplayer) and it was great, till something happened, it split, and now it sucks. big whoop. i thought this place was to just put up art and crap?

yes i admit i got caught up in it, but after a few peoples journals, i realized how one-sided i was being. for now i'm just going to go on the way i was, but support the community a little more

i totally agree with your stance on this issue... as much as i feel for jark (had my icon set for 3 weeks) i dont think people should quit deviantart. i mean, if thats the way you want to express yourself, thats fine, but it seems alittle extreme... and the only person you really would be punishing is yourself.

Love the picture and the opinion that goes with it. I frankly didn't know about these issues until now, hope this doesn't affect negatibly the community and the art, which is why most of us are here. IMHO games are lost when people get angry, so I hope people can deal with it without losing temper. Not much most of us can do I guess, except

I honestly didn't realsize that there was such a big issue going on her at Deviantart and I don't see how there could be.. the ppl here all have one major thing in common that is obvious they LOVE ART and any kind of it, what's special about this place is that it doesn't matter how talented u r at art it's the fact that u love it, want to share and also want to see what other artist like u are doing. This subject on the popularity thing congrad's to those who were singleized as "popular artists" only becasue that means that u have done something that is "IN" and has impressed a huge percent of this community and all other ppl should just respect them as fellow artists and, if u want to get some tips on their style in case u want to learn it, well now I'm just mumbling on and on I just want to say that I agree with *nilla and respect her choices

I agree with you 100%. I have desided to side with Jark for the time being, which is what I have been stateing on my deviant journal. However, because I do not understand all the politics involved I have not gone as far as to flame any body nor dedicate pictures to the cause. I'm just one of the people in for the ride trying to make sense of a very big mess.
My heart goes out to Jark for his contributions to deviantart, but until I know more about the situation I'm just being moderate.
I think this was a very good idea and a very good picture, great work and an even better message. ^^

You do have a good point. I too, lean more towards Jark's side but I'm not gonna stop everything for this. I might have miss understand some of the things said, but when people say stuff like: "stop summiting and commenting", I don't think that will help bring community back.

Well said. We are, first and foremost, a community of artists supporting and encouraging each other, and that is the thing on which we should focus. Politics happen, but it's best when people can step back, treat each other with respect, and try to take things calmly.
The last thing Jark or any of the DevArt crew want is for this to cause a rift or make people leave . . . since the artists, whatever their leanings, are the soul and power of this site.
