Description I love Ron and Hermione so much. But in the new movie, that speech of Ron's came out SO lame. And so are Twix commercials. It was perfect.

OH SNAP but perhaps it worked out after all.

ENJOY.

Fuck Ron/Hermione. This is how it should have gone down, and Hermione should have ended up with ANYONE ELSE.

So good on you.

Oh gud... can't stop... hehehehe...

Thanks.

I didn't really see the movie, I can only imagine the horror if this scene was even *more* ridiculus than in the book...
(In my opinion, the Ron / Hermione pairing is unrealistic and ridiculus to begin with, this scene just made even more ludicrous.)

I don't know about unrealistic. I actually really like the pairing because I can really relate to parts of it, particularly falling for your best friend. I've been with my best friend for 8 years now. <3 I also have a few friends that are in 6-9 year relationships with people they knew in high school. I wouldn't call it super common, but it's not ridiculous.

It's not about that.
I don't think it's unrealistic because Ron was her friend.
(Best? maybe by default. And probably less than he was Harry's friend [most of the time at least...],
and less than Harry's friendship with Hermione.)

It's more about the fact that JKR was in love with the model family she created - the weasleys,
and needed to complete her "set" by inserting Harry and Hermione into it.

The questions about how realistic those relationships are, and if they had any chance of surviving for long, was not as important to her...
Again, it's not about previous friendships, It's more about their personalities, and what kind of a person they are likely to be attracted to.

I know I'm like three years late, but I agree; there was no chemistry there, and the Jinny/Harry pair felt especially forced. It's not that relationships can't occur between friends, but that they way it was written in the books felt forced and lacked credibility, in my opinion anyway.

As we get older, we are often surprised to learn what we're attracted to. People can find themselves attracted to people that would seem to clash with their personality. I've seen it a million times. Heck, I (and my family) were surprised by what and who I ended up being most attracted to! I feel that your argument is more that it doesn't fit your preconceived notions of what good pairings are. Real people aren't so simple as (Personality A only likes personality B and C, and Personality D only likes E and F) Any outward personality could turn out to like any other personality.

Now, it's true that the Weasleys were meant to contrast two varieties of paranoid, ignorant, and cruel families, Dursleys and Malfoys, both of which seem like caricatures in and of themselves. Sad thing is, I've met people much likes the Dursleys. However, I've also been fortunate enough to meet THREE families like the Weasleys: imperfect but SO warm and welcoming. My in-laws are one such family.

I can't speak for Rowling's intentions, but I'm inclined to think it was not about the Weasley's as much as it was Ron and Hermione were interesting to her. If anything could be argued as a "HARRY NEED FAMILY" thing, then maybe Harry-Ginny, as Ginny was not developed to be much more than a love interest. Ron and Hermione were too-well-crafted for me to think that with them.

I agree whole-heartedly that attraction is not a mathematical equation.
(or at least that the math for it is too complicated for a mere human brain...)

That said, there are some cases were you can tell if a relationship is likely or not.

About Ron and Hermione.
First of all, they have almost nothing in common.
She is a scholar with zero interest in sports, low tolarence for stupidity, and out to fix all the wrongs in the world.
He is a wannabe jock with an inferiority complex that's as big as his appetite, and is more of a conformist than a freedom fighter.
In fact Harry is about the only thing they have in common.

Ron is attracted to glamour, and to glamourous women, like Fleur or Lavender.
He is unlikely to be attracted to someone like Hermione, both because she is not glamourous (at least not in this way),
and because she will always try to "fix" him, it will be like dating his mother...

Hermione is abit harder to read.
She probably has some low self-esteem issues that are connected to her looks (her front teeth until they "accidentaly" got fixed, etc.)
and to the fact that she was more or less ostracized by her age group do to her being "teacher's pet" and "know it all", and for her less than stellar social skills.
She responds rather strongly to someone like Viktor Krum who ignores the more glamorous girls he has "access" to, and comes to seek her especially, proving to her that she is more than just the books she carries around, and that someone like him can be attracted to her and can appreciate her as a girl rather than a study aid.
Dating Ron, she may not feel appreciated enough, and may become frustrated with his flaws and her inability to "fix" him.

All in all, I would say that a relationship between them is probably unlikely to occur under natural conditions,
and if it did occur for some reason, it will probably be short and explosive.

I'm more neutral about Harry and Ginny.
Ginny is indeed not developed enough to be certain one way or the other, but I can see this pairing happens.
At the very least they share alot of interests, and their personalities don't clash horribly.

As for Harry, his personality is a mess. For alot of reasons. It will take me three pages to write it all down...
He also sometimes acts less like a male teenager and more like a female teenager.
(It's not that surprising I guess. I will probably have more trouble writing a female personality than a male's,
simply because I am a male myself.)
But that's likely irrelevant and won't interrupt a relationship between him and Ginny. At least not for a while.

I think Ron and hermione are a great couple. Ron obviously is attracted to Hermione (seeing as they got together) and they may not have a lot in common, which I don't think really matters in a couple, but they do share a couple things. Ron and Hermione are both brave, highly annoying people (which I love), they both can be mean, and they both can be nice.
Ron and Hermione also complete each other and that's why they would make great parents, and husband and wife.

I intensely disliked the Twix commercials (Love twix, but those commercials made women look like idiots) but you make it work XD Best use I've seen of it yet!

My favorite panel though has to be the one with him motioning at his, now 3x larger, heart . Great job!
