On a different note, I wonder if Landslide realizes his son probably worked his bottom off to get where he is. Or how hard it had to have been with all the discouragement from his father.

I agree with Iron Strike's response to this. Landslide needs to realize that he hasn't done his son any favors, and that his way of helping his son actually demonstrates an inability to understand how to do so. The road to hell is paved with good intentions; the fact that Landslide wants his son to better himself does not change the fact that he is flat-out wrong.
