Description
This is a picture in a series of 9 (or more) pictures I plan to sell. They are 14,5x21 cm big, done in watercolors and markers. My aim is to gain some money and to donate this money to a small german organisation in Greece which helps and protects dogs who live on the streets.I will start selling these when I finished 6, currently 3 are finished. The price isn't fixed yet, but I plan to sell them at a price of 25-30$ each.
The homepage of the organisation is [link] (all german). You don't have to read the text, just see the photos and you'll see how terrible the situation is over there and how bad the dogs need help. The organisation always needs money to build new dog pounds and stations or for meds. I want to support them just a bit, also because I'm trying to adopt a dog from this organisation. Please help me. I will announce the sale here on DA and on my LJ.

Now, my german is quite rusty, but does it say that they cant help all the dogs with surgery (due to money) so they keep them waiting? I mean..some of those cases were absolutley horrible..isnt it better for them to put some of the dogs down?
Im not really in favour of putting dogs down if they can be helped but..when life quality is that bad..

are those dogs badly hurt by disease, accident, or human cruelty? like, the one with the bottom jaw like 4 inches out of alignment that looks like someone bludgeoned it...

Everything. There was a puppy that someone kicked so its bowels were all loose in its stomach... Fortunately a surgery helped. Moreover a lot of these dogs get poisened because people don't want them around. Human cruelty is also a big problem, because dogs are not much worth in this disctrict in Greece.

Wow... here in the US, there's no stray dogs on the streets of the cities -- they get picked up by the authorities. But in Moscow, where I grew up, the dogs that live on the streets, in the tunnels, even in subway trains (yup) sometimes get horribly mistreated by drunks and cops.
There was a story this past summer of a dog that lived in the tunnel entrance to the subway, and all the people who ran the little kiosks (with flowers and cigarettes and such) loved the dog, fed it, petted it, gave it a name. They all knew this dog, and it was a nice sweet dog... until one day it got in the way of a drunk offduty street cop who beat it to near-death... and then came back a few hours later with a baseball bat and killed it, in front of everybody. There are no anti-cruelty laws to protect dogs against this kind of thing, unfortunately...
So this is a German neighborhood in Greece?

I love the (mostly) triadic color sceme in these. You use unusual colors to shade and highlight, but it just works so well for the pieces that it's intriguing rather than jarring.

Wow. All three of the images you've done so far are amazing.
They're all colorful, but I really like this one and how much more vibrant it is. The technique you used makes this look really great, and you did a wonderful job using these colors without making them look like a complete mess.
Once again, amazing.

Man, I remember visiting Greece and thinking that the dog situation in Athens at least isn't that bad. I mean, they do capture and spay/neuter all the dogs they can which is more than the local shelters do. The dogs might end up back on the street, but I'd seen a few shops with bowls of water and kibble outside for them.
Beautiful artwork by the way. And any animal rescue is a worthy cause.
