Kitty Pryde from X-men

I got really into x-men evolution when it was on tv ages ago, the re-vamped series. That was the first x-men i was ever introduced too, i was too young to grow up with the old cartoon and comics. Kitty was always my favourite character from the show (but then again i always choose the cutest girls as my favourite characters from almost any cartoon, even now. I cant deny it). I want to get into the old x-men comics but geez where do i begin. theres so many differant series and what not. Thats the trouble with comic books theres so many differant canons and revivals and remakes its so hard to keep up.

Anyway, i decided to draw Kitty. I suppose its a bit of a re-design though she does look quite similar to how she did in evolution with only a slight change in hair. I also designed the uniform off the top of my head but that's from looking at the general designs of most of the previous uniforms so its not at all that original, just a bit of variation. I even took the sleeve design for the shirt from a picture of wolverine on the back of a book i got out of the library. I hope the big X i drew on her pants doesn't seem too garish or out of place.

sketched in pencil, coloured in copics, and edited in photoshop. I actually edited it to be a lot more muted with the colours. Bit different since usually i make them stand out more, but i thought muted looked better in this case.

also if there are any knowledgeable x-men buffs out there, please suggest some recommended reading for someone who wants to start with the comics. Preferably some of the more modern stuff? thanks
