Afterwards, it's gonna be painted red and have the (silver and black) detailing done.

I did some hunting around on the tinternets for you, and somebody has done a tutorial that's pretty much exactly the same as what I'm doing, except I'm paper macheing the edges of mine and doing some other stuff to make it a little better- just youtube "cardboard killjoy gun"

oh cool how do you make the paper mache paste i can't remember btw if you wanted detail you could use nail varnish

Papier-mΓ’chΓ© is just kitchen roll/tissue/newspaper stuck on with watered down PVA glue. I'm only putting it around the edges to fill in the little holes in the cardboard and make it a little more rounded.
