Finally finished! Here's my entry for 's samurai contest (vote for #7 at narutoartcommunity.deviantart.… . Behold Sasuke, Itachi, and Madara in samurai glory! It's like something from Hakuoki! X3

Poor Mada-chan and his missing left eye in the manga! I made sure to give a nod to that in this drawing.

LEARNING TIME WITH NINJA-CHI!
Many photos of samurai were snapped during the mid to late 1800s, and I thought an aged, sepia look like that would be perfect for this. Their costumes and weapons are authentic replicas of samurai garb (the only unauthentic thing being their hair styles - samurai wore top knots and shaved the front of their hairline).

Each bears the traditional katana and the shorter wakizashi, while Madara carries a yari spear. Itachi wears the kamishimo, the most widely-known samurai outfit, made popular in the Edo Period; Sasuke wears a simple hakamashita and hakama; Madara is wearing the formal version of hakamashita, hakama, and haori. Samurai did not usually wear geta, as those were considered lower class; they preferred waraji sandals instead (shown).

The kanji, which I wrote, says "Sanmei no Taka". "Sanmei" is a formal way of saying "3 people" (samurai are formal), "no" (used in counting when the number is first), and "Taka" being hawk. (It's Japanese wordplay, because I'm using the counter for humans, not birds. It's sort of difficult to explain.)

If you know about "Naruto", the you probably know who Kishimoto is. And since he was born is Okayama Prefecture, I picked that as where the photo was taken. XD
