I am surprised I didn't submit this before. This is a school assignment from digital art last year. We only had the class period to create something based on the word 'alienation'. I spent part of class time sprinting back to my dorm room, and carrying my scanner (Lupe) to class.

I was really stuck on what to draw. I kind of ended up staring at my reflection in a computer screen, and just ended up drawing that. It is not intended to be a self portrait, or 'me' or represent anything about me, but it was drawn based off what I happened to look like at that moment. Ah, I wasn't really thinking of a gender even when I drew it. XDD

I wanted more bones, like the person was decaying. I totally thought up what everything meant way back when I drew this, but I don't remember anymore, and it was pseudo symbolic at best, so no big deal.

I think the mouth being sealed was more about being unheard than being unable to speak. And the decay was the person sort of deteriorating the more they go unheard by whats around them.

...for the panic stricken sketch that this is, with some digital art haphazardesly thrown in, I'm actually pretty happy with it. If I'd have 4 or 5 hours to actually work on it, I'm sure I'd have produced something more refined. But I don't feel a need to go back and refine it, since this was the 'finished' copy I turned in, and thus sort of the 'true' version of the piece. Its fine as is.

Though I sort of said how I think of this as alienation (from what I remember), I'd enjoy other interpretations. I mean, it doesn't have any /real/ deep meaning, but what would you think it meant if asked to explain it?
