Description Two homo habilis find a gigantic bird sitting on a seaside cliff, and plan to steal its egg. Little do they know that this is one of the last pelagornithids, and by stealing this egg they will be partly responsible for its extinction. A curious comorant(Phalacrocorax sp.) watches from a distance.

Homo habilis was the earliest known member of our genus, and therefore one of our direct ancestors. While most reconstructions show them with mostly exposed skin, I think they would’ve had hair distribution more like chimpanzees, because they were not adapted for pursuit hunting(which is indirectly linked to hairlessness).

Pelagornis mauretanicus was one of the largest flying birds to ever exist, having an estimated wingspan of about 15-24 ft.
Unlike any living bird, it had large, toothlike serrations on its bill.

Note that the hair distribution, coexistence with these three species, and the ability to predate upon Pelagornis by H. habilis is speculative. I try hard to stick to the facts(aside from speculation, when mentioned), but researching credible info can be very hard. This is due to the incompleteness of the fossil record, as well as my search engine prioritizing popular information over relevant, accurate information. Please let me know if I made any scientific errors, and constructive criticism in general is well appreciated.
