Description Redeem :: Raid in Advance
Bigger view / Comment on this . Wallpaper . Special thanks

UPDATED / FINAL VERSION I have picked up some nice people's suggestions which are beautiful. I then reworked on some part of this and I fixed 1) the lighting in the sky; 2) bullets in the ground; 3) the buildings to be more apart now; 4) weaken very much the watermark (which the print won't have); 5) remove some overdone motion blur... Thanks to those who gave me advice!

Not knowing what it looked like before, I can only say it looks great now As Snowmask said, architecture has definitely improved, though there are still aspects of Imperial I like better... (sorry to drag that back out, but it's a good piece to compare it to). Especially that it doesn't look as 3D.
Though there's a REALLY weird pattern-effect in a few places, especially visible to the right of the largest ship's engines. Is that part of the watermark...? Or just something funky with jpgs?

That aside though, I MUCH prefer things like this with only a small amount of blur (as it is now). Too much makes it look like the artist was lazy, and is hiding it by obscuring detail. At the risk of re-igniting the flame below, that MAY have been what he was referring to. Though it was still a clear flame. I WILL agree that you can do better though You've got mad skillz, keep improving and wowing thousands each time

I saw this a while back and it struck me as quite an improvement, compared to "Imperial". I reckon its like a prequel to "Imperial"?? The war followed by the rebuilding of the city? Just my interpretation. I recognise the power chamber devices at the top of the building. If so, it's a very interesting contrast in mood and atmosphere. Love the palette. The blues and reds work well to advocate the tension and forebodedness.

One thing I noticed, that I particularly like, is the motion. I know "Imperial" differs from this, in the sense that it was more of an abstract style, but I really like the realism in this. The architecture looks better than ever. I notice the improvement in texture and lighting, and it really works. It still lacks a certain depth, which makes it still look slightly 2D, but other than that the architecture is quite fantastic. I love the exhaust heat waves [or whatever they may be]. I love the slight motion blur for the ships and the light/laser beams. The sky with its clouds and stars add romanticism. It's like a snapshot from a 3D sci-fi movie.

I don't remember what this looked like before you made the adjustments, but this looks quite stunning. Keep up the good work :]

[I hope you don't mind that I'm turning a bit of a blind eye to your "Critique Discouraged" tag. I meant to comment earlier but never got around to it. I suppose I owe you this ]

Thanks so much! Don't worry about the critique warning since it is only for people who like to speak with thinking hehe and definitely not for you. Thanks for the suggestion, and I agree that it needs some depth still. I will work harder on this next time!

And you make me smile too. After all such a lovely comment is fortuitous thanks!

This is simply marvelous. Your style is unsurpassed, honestly. I love this. Its smooth, clean and simple, yet sophisticated in its content. I love the buildings and cityscape, very detailed yet somehow not more that what is needed. The motion of the image is very well done. I can feel the flow of the image right to the glowing tower. This is so very nice I can feel myself in the action. Very nicely done.

Don't leave DA just because some idiot (who hasn't been here nearly as long as you, I'm sure) gives you crap. Stick around and keep doing what you do, cuz damn, what you do looks nice.

I could only dream of making something like this...I don't even know how to start..

As for the yellow lasers as people mentioned above, I don't think they fit well; maybe replace them with red ones?

And the energy coming off the center structure is awesome and very realistic, and the heat effects from the engines just make this piece. Really awesome, man, keep it up!

Anyhoo .. great modelling as usual from the ships to the buildings .. my only crits are the laser beams .. they look more like solid projectiles then beams of 'light'. other then that it's top notch

I love to see this again Vincent... You spoil us too much The critic's that some other people have here are understandable in my opinion, but most of those critical points add alot to the piece it's realism. Like the blur behind the fighters... It adds alot of realism. Same for the buildings in the background... They should have less detail than the buildings in the front. And about people saying it's more of the same... That's called a style right? Yeh yeh ok, enough for today, get back to work now!

i love the cinematic effect of this piece
awesome detail, love the blurred effect
its not like what others said, about it being very similar to your old pieces, your old pieces are very polished but i get the feeling that they are portraits of structures, this, on the other hand, depicts a scene, a battle sequence.

i don't really like proportioning of the blur because it's bothering the hole image. The buildings in the background looks more than vector what gives the image a more simple look.
Overall it's not bad, but i think it could use some more work.
