Description I realize it is in poor taste to do another guy in armor with a big sword so soon after that Balthazar one, but i swear i didn't have a choice on this.

Midterm for my Medieval Mind class, had to paint a scene from "The Song of Roland", the story of the battle of Roncesvals in 778.

Turpin is one of the more interesting characters in the poem. He's an archbishop and though he takes four spears and is mortally wounded, through force of will and the grace of god he remains fighting, side by side with Roland, until the end.

I fave'd this piece months ago because it's really awesome and I love the Song of Roland. So awesome is it, though, that I keep returning to it, and I'm downloading it so that I can look at it all the friggin' time as my desktop background! An excellent depiction of one of the most badass holy men of whom I have heard tell.

I'm reading Song of Roland for school right now and working on writing a few summary sentences for every laissez (can't spell it. D<.

Turpin has got to be the most bad-assed Man of the Cloth ever. He's the only character I pay any attention to when he talks.

I love the wildness in this piece, the dark shadows of battle in the background while Turpin his little "I'm not dead yet!" speech.

Turpin is teh sex. Your rendition is awesome, and thanks for giving the world bloody-half-dead Turpin, since I for one haven't yet worked up the courage to do so...
