Description Ni meren le govaded!

Let me tell you a bit about this original character:

Elanorin and her twin sister Elenathrin were born to Ornélion and Tinurin of Thranduil's folk in 2770 TA. Tinurin, who was accounted as being ever impulsive and independent, found herself amongst the Lake-men trading for spices and exotic foodstuffs when her time came. The infant daughters were brought to Ornélion in the wake of Smaug's wrath upon the Lake-town that day, but Tinurin herself was lost amidst flame and blood. Ornélion raised the daughters with the knowledge of this, ever cautioning them in their actions and counseling them in ways which would keep them safe. He was called by his own folk 'Thurinel' or the hidden elf, for his tendency to hide in his library rather than hunt or walk amongst the others, only emerging when called to council. Elanorin and her sister Elenathrin grew up sheltered by his careful ways, more accustomed to books and musty texts than to riding, ranging, or revelry. They were so alike in appearance that Ornélion himself had trouble distinguishing them from one another, though only if they covered their hair from view under a hood. Where Elanorin's hair was bright as gold, her sister Elenathrin was starkly silver. The two were inseparable, always walking with linked arms, and speaking to each other in a language purely of their own making when they felt the need for secrecy. They both bore strong resemblance to their father in the shape and hue of their eyes, which were a distinctive hue of cold, dark blue such as that seen in deep mountain pools.

Neat character/s! "Thranduil"...that words seems awefully familiar...it's eith JRR Tolkien or Roots of the Mountains that I've heard this word before!

I like the realism in this drawing the animals were doen especially good. Doesn't she get tired of having all that stuff hanging off her head? I would!

Haha, yeah she looks sort of annoyed about all the stuff on her head, doesn't she?

Thranduil's the father of Legolas, he was in the works of JRR Tolkien.

This is beautiful, but I need to ask: how did this pic end up in Tolkien's LOTR-Book cathegory, if she's an OC? 'Cause that's what I understand by the term "original character"...

nitocris In reply to SerialSuicide [2010-03-29 21:37:59 +0000 UTC]

There is no OC section for submission, and the work had to be approved to be there, so I left it up to the moderators to decide. The guidelines say that as long as it's based on the Tolkien legendarium, it is alright to post.

In the end, they can remove it or place it where they will, as is their right. I would have used a fanfic or OC category, were one available.

Glad you thought it was beautiful.

Lovely protrait!

Most people like to draw their characters with magestic birds like eagles, or songirds, but you chose the humblest of birds: the sparrow. I love that detail! Mostly because sparrows are my favorite

I think the sparrow is just an adorable little bird! It's the first time I've drawn one too, so I appreciate that you mention it as being a good focal point for the composition.

This is beautiful. Very original, and her animals are so accurately drawn. I love the background story, and speaking of backgrounds, the color of it and the characters are very reminiscent of nature. I really, really love this picture.

I really love the metallic accent pieces. I know I said the pearls could use some shadows earlier, but they're so luminous I think it's better this way.
