Description Just an old, hi-polygon model of Stump that I created while I was taking 3D Animation in college. I had gotten to the point where I had a basic rig created and was doing test animations (with mixed results) before my GI Bill money ran out and I couldn't afford to attend college anymore. So he's never really gotten much farther than this.

This model was created using Maya 6 and 7, rendered with a simple bump mapped texture using Maya's built in renderer with raytraced shadows. There's some mild sub-surface scattering going on with his skin, but it's not a true SSS shader.

Welcome to the world of Forsaken.

You are an out-cast Master Samurai with exceptional skill. Born to be the Leader of a destroyed Empire, but Exiled by the Supreme Guardians of the Emperors Shine for Misconduct. You alone have traveled the devastated lands in search of rest and peace, but to no avail you have fallen to wayside as fate pulls you back into the very world you are trying to escape from. Armed with just a Katana, Kage (You) Must fight your way back into Honor and relinquish the title " Forsaken. "

Hello, My name is Malykai and I notice your Forum comments and I am making a game (already in-progress) and I think you would be a great addition to it. It is Open Concept game, meaning you are able to add you input and ideas into the game to shape its outcome. So the GDD I have but will change as we Create more and more. I am a 3D Modeler/ Animator/2d Concept Artist/Sound Engineer. I want this Team to be full of Newbies so that the hunger to create drives us. The Style and format of the game is hack and slash adventure (third person.) With this project the goal is to get a finished title under your belt and from there you can branch out and with your new experience build a bigger and better game. Thanks for your interest in the project
Now this is where you come in. We need artist (which I myself am also one) to help us realize this Vision which is already in progress. We need concepts including environment pieces Character works and the two combined. Also if you posess the skill to do 2D maps that's a plus but not mandatory. If you feel like this is a fit for you and have been wanting to add more to your portfolio, and work with other exceptional artist then this is the place. For compensation we will be splitting Royalties if we go for funding, but as of right now it is a non-paid project in which you can add that you have " Worked on game." to your portfolio.(Why not right?)
Deviantart thanks to you. you've been a great asset helping us move forward. I just wanted to let everyone know that we are moving into getting the animation pipeline rolling for the Main characters and Enemies and setting up a small prototype to work out all the kinks before we move on. Things have been moving great and we have received a great amount of contribution from the team.
We are now looking mainly for these Positions:

3D Character Modelers 2
Rigging Artist 2
Animators 2
Sound Engineers 1
Voice Talents 2
Dialogue Artist 1

Currently Have:

2D Concept Artist 4/4
3d Modelers 3/4
3D Character Modelers 1/3
Rigging Artist 2/2
Animators 2/3
Programmers 5/5
Level Designers 3/4
Sound engineers 1/2
Writer 2/2
Dialogue Artist 1/2

The Roles are being filled just fine guys thanks

Thanks guys will have a update coming up here in the next couple days. Thanks again for all the help and support. BTW the animations are not final quality these are for testing and will be iterated several times and if you see a position full please don't hesitate to apply we could always use the help.

Hey there Deviantart community. I am building a gaming team as we have 5 people in the team so far and are continuously receiving more emails regarding joining. We need volunteers at the moment to help fill the roles for design, modeling and coding. Please email me at vxtream@gmail.com or comment reply to this if your interested and... WOW that is good stuff!

Wow nice piece. 3D isn't all too easy, yet most people even beginners make it look like it

I love everything about this one. The face is great and so is the body. Like his overall shape and even the spandex pants. Is he on the moon? LOL

Good job! You should try getting your hands on the software again and teaching yourself more. You have a good eye.

Thanks! I actually still have access to the software, but not the high speed computers that my college had. So I'm limited to just basic modeling and doing a few renders here and there.

I'll try to post some more recent renders here soon.

It was intended to be a caricature of Matt originally, but he kind of took on a life of his own.

Interestingly enough, I had never even met Matt before I started working on this, but it was this project that actually got his attention and started up our earliest communications.

Well i think the characteristics are perfectly captured, and i like the small eyes concept, it makes him look very...innocent and good-hearted. Brilliant.
haha would love him as heavy weapons guy(TF2)

NMRosario In reply to Moelhead [2010-01-07 21:50:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, I actually used to get a lot of criticism for the eyes when I was first modeling him. I guess since they didn't look like the eyes of the human characters in the Pixar movies, then people just assumed they must be wrong.

Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Pixar films; but they have a very distinctive style about them that I have no real interest in mimicking.

The base model of this guy is only about 7000 polygons, so he might be able to function as a character in many high end computer games out there.

Moelhead In reply to NMRosario [2010-01-07 23:13:47 +0000 UTC]

Well the big eyes have been around since the dawn of toons, so it's nice with something different.

hell yeah it could work for a skin, HWG is just about 7200, so it would be great.
tho his body might be better suited for a soldier.

I had actually considered selling copies of the basic polygon model; but I'm not sure if I'm really ready to let this one go yet.

This is just amazing! I can't even begin to imagine how you can do something like this, you are always so inspiring to me. Oh do so hope that you'll find a way to get back to your studying one day -- and thank you for serving for us, that makes you a very big superhero in my book!

NMRosario In reply to Stars-and-Garters [2010-01-07 21:10:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! It's actually not as hard as it may seem at first. If you can sculpt in clay then modeling in the computer is a similar process.

I find that I usually envision my characters in 3 dimensions, then I have to try to take a "snapshot" of that in my head in order to draw them as 2 dimensional images. So, in a way, modeling in the computer is a more natural process for me.

Anyways, thanks again!

Very interesting. Really brings out his proportions and the design ideas behind him.

Does the belly hang right over the shorts or is that me?

Shame you could not get him finished. Do you still have the files? Perhaps one of the DA experts could give you a hand finishing him off?

Hehee! I'd be glad to "finish him off" !

NMRosario In reply to ogrebear [2009-12-16 07:27:19 +0000 UTC]

His belly protrudes out some, but it doesn't hang over his belt-line. Think of it like a mild "roid-gut" but it's not caused by steroids.

I do have all the files still and it might be a good idea to see what a more experienced 3D modeler could do with this. This was my first real attempt at a full 3D human character, so I'm sure it's loaded with mistakes. Also, I don't really enjoy texturing that much at all, so that would be a job that I would gladly hand over to someone who actually knew what they were doing.
