Description Based loosely on a speedpaint I did over a year ago that I liked the general concept of. Trying to build my portfolio up a bit.

Wow, strange feelings in this one!  An amalgam of Satanic and Christian imagery.  this is beautifully executed but there's something slightly chilling about the temple on the island, even though it is a gate to the light.  This is interesting.

Are you interested in a book cover commission?

I am going to need a complete cover with image, fonts, ornaments and a piece of jewellery. The format is the entire book jacket with front, spine and back. The exact measurements are still to be decided as they depend on the layout and resulting page numbers and paper thickness for the print edition. For the ebook the front should be enough.

Please look at my DA page and the book cover that I have uploaded there and let me know whether you can create something similar.

I always love your gorgeous landscapes; you've got such a gift (and skills) for these!

But if this is going to be a portfolio piece, I've got a few suggestions if you want them.

1. I'd reverse the pic so the pilgrims are on the left. I didn't even notice them until my fifth or sixth look because they aren't in a narrative position. Most of us learned to read from left to right, so (all things being equal) we notice things on the left first, and we read meaning from left to right too. With the pilgrims on the left, this picture would be "Dark journey reaches its bright end," rather than the more static "Glorious wonder happens to have some unimportant/unlit observers."

2. Make it clear what the island's green base is. Trees? Rock? Billowing water or smoke? Chopped lime jello? We have no problem understanding your MAINLAND greenery, as in most of your speedpaints; its trees, shrubs, grass, and so on are easy to recognize. But the island's surface is a lumpier, bluer green, with odd paler bits that could be either fog or light shining through it. And the drawback to any visual confusion is that it snags us into the puzzle and away from the whole of the art

3. Similarly, the intersection of light, clouds, and cliffs isn't clear enough at first or second glance. I'm guessing this is "Sunlight shining through a hole in the cloud" rather than "Sunlight shining into this enormous cave," "Dimensional gate opens behind stone," or even "wispy glowing centipede rears up behind island," but I had to spend some time figuring it out.

I think this confusion comes from just two elements: the sky-blue patches in the clouds, and the confusing border between cliff and sky.

The blue patches look enough like open sky that we can see the darker and lighter streaks in it as wisps of high fog, rather than heavy clouds with no gaps except the one place the sun comes through. And if this is mostly open sky with a bit of fog, then the whole glowing area on the right is too big and solid to just be sunlight. Does that make sense?

And once we're not quite sure what's going on with the sky, the left and right sides of the pic don't quite resolve into one answer. On the right, cliffs and clouds merge with no clear separation, so it could be one solid material like a bumpy sinkhole into a cave. But on the left, where we can clearly separate cliff from cloud, the upward arcs of reflected light on both are similar enough that IF we see the sky as blue-with-fog wisps instead of solid cloud, then those arcs of light are too BRIGHT to be reflections, and therefore look like something separate--lightning, or a power aura streaming upward along the whole side of the island&tower, or even spectral insect legs.

Anyway, sorry it takes so many words just to make a few suggestions--move the pilgrims and clarify the surface of the island and the relationship between cliffs, clouds, and open sky. Oh, well.
