So, not too long ago, I made a portrait of this character. You may remember it: fav.me/daj98yeFor a short time, I was satisfied with it. The more I looked at it though, the more I felt like it was hideous. It's not so much the picture in itself (to be honest, I do think it's quite decent), but the style of it that I came to hate with a passion. I still do like her expression, but it just doesn't feel like my character anymore. It simply doesn't feel like I drew it.
So I asked myself, what is it I hate so much about it? The small eyes. The nose. Those lips. The general 'too realistic' style of it. And I'll admit: I'm an anime fan. I LOVE anime. I don't love everything about its graphical style, but what I love most is the exacerbated facial traits and emotions. So, at the very least, I went for big eyes. The rest followed suit. And I love the result, if only because it feels like my style... but also the character. Even tried and give her head a slight tilt, but I don't know if I quite succeeded.
... and I like the lips. Huzzah *.* yay for art. ... I need to do more of this. But. Writing. << (and yes one day I'll learn to colour. Gimme time. One day. <<)

She looks very lovely. I like her eye color and the way you did her expression as well as her hair. Very lovely ^_^ I get a devious feel from her heh.

Very nice work on this piece. I really like how you've drawn the eyes and make it so the iris are the only coloured part; it helps make them stand out, especially when they're such a unique colour. I also think the nose and lips came out very well. I do find myself wondering what the mark to the right of the nose is; part of my wonders if it's trying to add more shape to the nose or perhaps is some kind of mole/beauty mark.
Finally I like the flow of the hair and the various lines in it to help add more overall detail to it.

Thank you! I'm glad the eyes have that effect ^^ this character's eyes are often the one trait that people remember of her, which is why I like to emphasize them ^^
I'm glad to hear the nose and lips came out well! I obviously have a hard time with those, and I'm not quite sure I place them right... But I do like how they look. The mark on the right of her nose is supposed to be a nostril crinkle, but I can see how that's not quite noticeable.

Position wise I think they're fine. Compared to another pic I commented on recently they look much more central. And I did wonder if that was a nostril crinkle but I felt it was too far away from the bridge of the nose, which is why I wondered if it was something else.
