Upon the split of the ATC in 1980, Rhaglen 2 became the Gwasanaeth Teledu Cyhoeddus, or Public Television Service. This ident built upon its 1978 counterpart, giving the 2 some balance and this time actually animating it. This ident and logo held the station in good stead for another 10 years, marching its way through a strike, the death of a monarch, two political crises and about a million recessions - it had truly become an icon by the time it dropped in 1990.
