Mustering up her last reserves of energy, Marie stepped back from Kokoro and leapt into the air. The fight would be decided here and now, this was the decisive blow. With a yell she stuck her leg out and began her divekick that would finish off Kokoro.
Kokoro, exhausted as she was, thought she saw an opening to attack. It would have been safer to try to block or evade Marie’s divekick, but Kokoro wasn’t sure she would be able to continue fighting if she even received a grazing blow from Marie, the pain she was feeling in her midriff and leg was simply too much. Instead, she leapt into the air with an upwards kick to meet Marie in the middle. Fortunately for her, her strike rang true and her foot connected with Marie’s face milliseconds before Marie would have landed her blow.
