Seconds is your favorite song? What an interesting choice. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song and Edge sings beautifully in it, but it's not nearly as good as some of their other stuff.

But in the mean time, I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves No Line on the Horizon.

Well, it's one of them. I think that it's the deep
bass line and drum beat that I like so much, and I do
like to hear Edge and Bono sing on the same song. There
are many songs that are better, I just really like it. (:

It's great! I don't understand why people don't like it.

I love the bass line. I can't think of anyone else that has hit the root note and it's octave at the same time throughout the whole song on bass before. It hurts after playing it for a while, buts it's awesome.
Edge and Bono singing together is always neat, but in it's a little more unique because they sound identical (my father still thinks it's Bono).

I think most people just didn't get into it right away. I loved on day one, but it took others sometime. It had to grow on them. Although hearing it live probably changed a lot of opinions. It improved mine.

Yeah, it is different from most of the songs, and
most songs in general. The very first time I heard the
song I didn't realise that Edge was singing first, but
the second time I played it it hit me.

I feel like a lot of people probably didn't like it and
then didn't give it a second chance. The first time I heard
it I was in love, it seemed very sincere to me. And what they
have done with in on the 360 tour is amazing!

Really, the second playthrough you got it? It wasn't until I read somewhere that it was Edge that it had dawned on me. I mean, he sounds unmistakably like Bono!

Well, my father (who introduced me to the band) didn't like the album at first himself, until he heard it live. Now he listens to it all the time. I think people just miss so many things at first and don't quite get the complexity and how well done it really is. Also, a very un-U2 first single probably didn't help.
Have you seen the 360 tour in person?

nodyourheaddd In reply to Matthordika [2010-10-25 19:18:37 +0000 UTC]

Yep! But before I heard it for the second time I had been
listening to a live version of Sunday Bloody Sunday that Edge
sings on, so when I heard Seconds after that, I was suspicious.
I did have to look it up to be sure though. He does sound a lot
like Bono, it's hard to tell the difference.

I can see how that happened, it's like a whole different album
when performed live. And that's true about the first single, when
I heard it on the radio the first time I was really surprised.

Not yet. I had a ticket for the show in Chicago last July, but
because of Bono's back problem it was canceled. So I still have
the ticket and am anxiously awaiting July 5th!

Ah, the Popmart revival of Sunday Bloody Sunday live. If I could sing, I could recreate that. Still, good ear for being able to pick that out. I mean, he does the usual post-punk Bono ways of singing.

There's just something about seeing it live that adds this whole new level of energy. Of course, it could because the band usually plays better on stage. But take a song like Get on your boots. It's more rock-like and is more raw. And "I'll go Crazy Tonight" live speaks for itself.

July 5th? That's too long a wait! Seriously, this tour could be better then even ZooTV.

PS Sorry it took so lnog to respond, I tried replying on my iPhone, and I guess it it didn't go through.

Oh yes, I love Edge's version of it so much. I
was actually a bit surprised that I caught it myself,
haha, I'm usually not so attentive to things.

I can't even imagine how much it really changes live.
I've seen and heard the recordings but being there
makes the difference. July 5th IS a long way away,
but when it gets here, I'll be the happiest person
out there!

It's alright (:

And people thought that POPmart was a bad tour! I actually like the POP album.

Seeing it live is a whole new world of difference. There is nothing quite like it. Hint: don't be afraid to throw your arms around like a crazy bafoon!

I'm not a huge fan of the album, but the tour was
awesome. It was something completely new.

Believe me, I'll be going crazy! But I have general
admission tickets so I expect that the people around
me will be excited as well.

Matthordika In reply to nodyourheaddd [2010-11-27 18:38:26 +0000 UTC]

The album actually has some really good songs. It may appear at first to be an attempt at disco-rock, but underneath it all is a real rocker of an album. And it didn't need a giant lemon to back it up!

Come show date, you should be all like "I'll go crazy if I don't go crazy tonight!"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nodyourheaddd In reply to Matthordika [2010-11-27 19:14:53 +0000 UTC]

The only song I really don't like on the album is
Mofo, I think. I can't find anything good about that
one. But the rest have this dirty, pop feeling about
them that make it all work so well.

Hahahahaha, that's terribly great.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Matthordika In reply to nodyourheaddd [2010-11-27 20:07:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, "Mofo" was easily the weakest song on there. But not all the song sounded dirty. "Last night on earth," "If God will send his angles," and, of which might be the best song on the album, "Please" all have a cleaner sound to them. But everything else is good and heavy. It also sports some of Adam's finest moments in bass playing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nodyourheaddd In reply to Matthordika [2010-11-27 20:52:13 +0000 UTC]

I guess I was kind of using dirty synonymously
with heavy. Adam does a great job on that album, I
think that he's such a fantastic bass player. I've
always really liked "Wake Up, Dead Man." It's so
dark, but there is something about it that sets it
apart from the other songs.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Matthordika In reply to nodyourheaddd [2010-11-27 21:20:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, that's okay. Heavier sound effects do sound dirty. But the songs I listed weren't too heavy. Adam seems to have some really great moments, but then others he gets kind of lazy. I can excuse early stuff because he was still learning how to play, but after what he pulled off in the nineties, ATYCLB and HTDAAB were weak for him. Maybe he tried, as they were trying to capture their old sound, but I'm more then happy that with NLOTH he's found his groove again. Moment of Surrender was made by him.
If you like the album version, you should try listening to the live, acoustic version of "Wake up, dead man."

nodyourheaddd In reply to Matthordika [2010-11-28 03:04:42 +0000 UTC]

I think on every album, there is at least a song or two driven
by bass, but NLOTH had more than most others. Moment Of Surrender
is such a genuine song, and Adam's part is just about perfect. I'll
have to check that out, thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Matthordika In reply to nodyourheaddd [2010-11-28 03:22:50 +0000 UTC]

There's always a really cool Adam moment, but yes, NLOTH has a lot more then usual. Something must've hit him making say "oh, I can be super awesome at this!" He's got such a grooziness to him and he makes it work. Take Mysterious Ways for example. It was born out of a cool guitar effect, but brought to life by the same four bass notes repeated throughout. Moment of Surrender is even simpler, but just as if not more amazing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nodyourheaddd In reply to Matthordika [2010-11-28 14:33:31 +0000 UTC]

Well I'm glad that he had that realisation! Mysterious Ways
has always been one of my favorites because of it's funkiness.
That Adam can have such great bass lines while the rest of the
band are also doing great things just proves how amazing U2 are.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Matthordika In reply to nodyourheaddd [2010-11-28 14:56:05 +0000 UTC]

Mysterious Ways is a good song to dance to, but it manages to be completely different from other dance songs. It's just fun and funky, and the live version ups the funkiness even more. Heck, in what other song is there a guitar solo that's fun to dance during? And it's all because of Adam. U2 is truly a band of equality. There's rarely ever anyone that is not performing up to their stand simply to let someone else shine. Sometimes it comes with lots of cool licks, others happen just from hitting the right note.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nodyourheaddd In reply to Matthordika [2010-11-28 21:15:38 +0000 UTC]

Exactly, it's a dance song, but at the same time it isn't.
I love it when one instrument stands out in a song, but with
U2, it's just as nice when they're all working harmoniously.
It's a good, good thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Matthordika In reply to nodyourheaddd [2010-11-28 22:23:58 +0000 UTC]

And even with everything working together, it's nice that the band's lack of musical training and self-taught knowledge has given them such a unique style. So did Edge's distaste of guitar.

Oh joy.
I really love your answers for this in so many ways.

Point A) Your favorite songs; Acrobat, Seconds, Numb, BTBK, not only are they not the typical choices like 'One' or 'WOWOY', but they're also some of my favorites.
Point B) Adam/Larry is one of my favorite pairings, though I'm much more of a Larry/Edge girl.
Point C) FINALLY. SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME. The last person who did this meme implied that Adam was ugly.
Point D) Baby!Edge is too adorable for words.
Point E) Naming 'Boy' as one of your favorite albums.

I hope you got all that. XD
I appreciate you doing my meme, man. I was convinced no one would.

:3 this comment made me happy because

A) I'm glad you like those songs too, because I seem to
like the more obscure songs that a lot of people haven't heard.
B) Larry/Edge is good too ;D
C) WHATTTTT. Adam is a beautiful man!
D) He was so cuuuute.
E) Boy is a great album, I don't care what anyone says.

The second I saw it, I KNEW I had to do it. I draw U2
all the time so I thought I might as well do it with purpose.
Thank you for making this meme~
