Description i had a teacher in school i was sure was a witch. it was second grade and i was so convinced of her dark double life (and the fact that she would turn me into somehting hideous) that i made myself sick enough to actually be hospitalized for two weeks. this is a bit of an homage to kids who are afraid of their teachers.

kinda of a quick piece - i've always wanted to do a jack in the box but have never had the time to gather all the images i need to do one - so this is my psuedo jack done with stock around da and in about 2 hours - kinda of a digital sketch of things to come...

Oh gosh this is terrifying.
A lot of the comments are complimenting this for the nightmarish aspect, and I would too, if I wasn't trying to fall asleep a few minutes before seeing this. D:

When I was 7 I had to be hospitalized because they though I had ulcers. Come to find out I was terrified of my teacher to the point that it made me physically ill, I was sure she was a witch or worse. Oddly it was completely unfounded as she was truly the nicest teacher I ever had - just my overactive imagination

I am loving it...

It looks like something that would appear in an art movie, I watched something recently, it was an art movie called mirror mask and that would totally lok like a character in there...

Awesome work, it looks like it could belong in a digital storytelling movie...

Holy crap. Through the combination of a bunch of imagery that doesn't seem to go together normally it really makes it seem like some sort of creature you'd see in your nightmares. The ones where nothing seems right. I really like the color choices too. I'm going to have bad dreams tonight about those eyes.

Best photomanip I've personally seen in months. I love the use of the schoolbook and chalkboard...combined with the sorta scary-looking jack in the box, it seems to be both surreal and reflective - dancing on the fence between childhood fantasy and creepy nightmares.

aite. i know i'm gonna sound like your dime a dozen da lemming here,...but,...
the first thing that catches my eye is those colors noir! that's really a nice scheme girl!
(ok. i'll skip the 'liking the textures part' for fear of pushing the limits of your tolerance.
oh yeah. it's not like it hasn't happened before. *smirk*)
i just think it's a wicked sick twist on the jack in the box thing! and those realistic eyes
staring out at you! e-e-e-e-e-g-g-g-g-g!
and yeah, i can relate to your story as well. had a third grade teacher we all thought
was a witch. used to make us go pick pote salad in the woods around the school!
but then there was this other one,...in college,...classical lit,...g-g-g-g-g-g-grrrooooWWWLLLL!!
hey. i don't know if she put a spell on me or not,...but i was damn sure up for some
after-class tutoring! heh.
erhm.
ok then.
my pestering here is done.

nice job noirster!

twas my second grade teacher that i feared most. her name was mrs lowenstein. i was in first grade when i forst heard the runours from the older kids that she was really a "frankenstein - lowenstein was just a clever cover" and that she was really a witch. i worried all summer about the chances of ending up in her class and of course to my horror my mother opened the envelope of my seocnd grade reg package and of course i had been assigned to her class.

i have always had an overactive imagination (one only needs to look at my art to confirm it) and i worled myself into such a frenzy that i threw up for a week straight at school and was sent home everyday. the last day there i collpased in the hall - seriously. they took me to the hospital and ran all kinds of tests and finding nothing began to ask me what was bothering me. long story short - they set up a meeting with myself and mrs lowenstien to talk and i realized she was not a witch, quite the contrary - she was probably one of the best teachers i ever had. funny what we think when we are kids and how it effects us eh?

so how have you been? - i'm sorry to hear about you set back - keep meaning to note you but school is back in session and my life is insane once again!!!

Iam mending and soon should be on track...Life is good at the momment, with plenty of ideas bouning within...

Thanks for sharing your grade school visions...Sometimes as students we know within the frist 15 mintues if the teacher is cool or going to be a hard-ass. My Favorite was Mr. Fleck from art school, he never held me back to venture deep within myself and pretty much pushed me to reach for the stars and said 'In art there is no rules, if the cow is purple in your world its ok'...How I have such a place for Mr.Fleck in my heart...whos frist name was Bob, but never could come about on call him that. Out of repect it was always Mr. Fleck...How I loved Bob, miss him for am sure hes no longer.

Being busy myself at work and all, sometime I wish I could just paint drink coffee and listen to good old Rock-n Roll Music..

Note me when you can my friend... and have a great Sunday...Skot

Ooh, creepy... and I do like the colours a lot. You seem to use these particular colour quite frequently, or at least right now I have that impression. In any case, they work exctremely well, so it's not a bad thing at all.

Very good work, as always, Shelley.
