Merry Christmas!!! Wow...so frickin' long! This took me awhile, about 2 weeks. I had my sister critique it as I went along. Ed with his watch for 's contest. *FalyneVarger is also entering. Here's her entry-[link]

There is something truly poetic about this piece. I love the striking contrast between the crimson of EdwardΒ΄s coat, his blood, and the pure white of the falling snow. There is a softness and somber gentleness to EdwardΒ΄s face- I really like your attention to detail and how you took a realism approach. Beautiful shading, especially on the creases of the coat and on EdwardΒ΄s face.

Hmm...yes, I wanted to enter that contest and I couldn't come up with an idea for a picture. But all of a sudden it hit me. I wanted to kill Edward. I wanted to make it look tragic as if he were reaching for his watch while taking his last breath.

Usually I'm not into realistic-looking fanart for anime, but this is lovely. I really like how soft the whole thing seems-- the viewer almost has to do a double-take to realize they're looking at blood, it's such a gentle stain on the snow.
The colors and the fabric look really good too. Only think I'd suggest is that his automail hand seems a little too close to a flesh hand-- or did you mean to do that? Given the excellence of the rest of the piece, it's hard to tell whether it was actually a mistake.
Great job on the snow, too. I've had issues with that in the past and I really love how detailed yours is. It's all different sizes, some is even out of focus like real snow...
Overall, you did a fantastic job! I love it.

I never used to be into realistic-looking fanart, but it's grown on me. ;3 I meant to make the hand like that, I had bad refs, so I went with what I had. And I like the way it turned out, so it's a good thing, I suppose. The snow on the ground was trouble, but the snow in the air was done with custom brushes for Photoshop by `Dianae , I was really surprised at how well they did. Mainly because they seemed to be made for pores on skin, but I used them on snow.

This is spectacular! It's not too often you see images like this - very refreshing, and well painted to boot! I love your attention to detail - particularly on his skin. The blood is done nicely, too. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe some more definition in the hair.

I like Ed! Al is ehh, but Edddd!!! Just gotta love him in all his shortness. The contest is still running 'til Jan 15th I think. You have to draw Ed with his watch.
