This is the final result of one of my school projects. The class was Materials, Tools & Comping techniques. The main focus of the class was to learn how to brainstorm, prepare, create, and present packaging designs.This project lasted the whole class and was the main product we worked on, among other things like gift boxes and shopping bags. The concept was to pick a bottle of balsamic vinegar or olive oil, redesign a 1-color rubdown label based on information we gathered about the company and the product, then have it printed and apply it to our bottle.
We started with a bottle of our choice, did our research, redesigned the type into 4 different style choices, then did 20 thumbnails sketches based on 5 concepts of our choice, combined our type and thumbnails into 4 refined label designs, and then chose 1 design for our final rubdown label.
The only thing not shown is a gold emblem stamp on the top.

I think you've done a really great work by capturing the essence of what balsamic vinegar is and create a logo for it. I gave a look to the original bottle and I noticed they spend too much effort in designing something related to their brand name, which could work well too for stron brands, but it also could confuse people about what they're really going to buy. The idea of using a vine leaf as symbol makes more sense as I think it truly represent the product. What I like a lot is he choice of the "negative" image, it fits well the black bottle.

The leading for the text at the bottom should be reduced a bit in my opinion. Other than that this looks excellent!

Great design, althou Napoleon doesnt exactly make me think of Italy nor Vinegar, so I think they should have went for a different brand name.

Almost all Balsamic Vinegar is from Italy. At least the ingredients or recipe is, since that's where it originated. Even Newman's Own says Italian on the bottle.

Only when I clicked the full-view did I realise it said "organic", and not "orgasmic"; I must say, it is now slightly less badass.

Looking awesome! Such a nice trimmed colour scheme. The orange and black go so nicely together- very eye catching

ah- well, i guess it is hard to photograph the shininess of gold. but gold also would work so nicely for the same reason

On a not related note, I find it crazy that in the US you get products like this one with "of Modena, Italy" and that we don't know about them. It took me 15 mins to find their websites as I was looking in the Italian pages only and from what I see... we have no Napoleon brand.
