Description ETA: Updated, cleaner, bigger version.

Venonat and Butterfree, two PokΓ©mon I think are ADOREABLE. And, I like that whole idea that Butterfree should evolve from Venonat, coz look at the similarity in their design!

Anyway yeah, I haven't had a chance to draw lately so this is a pretty quick piece - I'm happy with the colours but it's a bit messy, even by my standards.

I know the lighting is terrible, and I dunno how I feel about coloured lines instead of black/grey ones. I'll have to decide before I draw any more pokes!

Referenced, as I've never drawn them before. And Butterfree's wings are complex.

those of you who think venonat was originally planned to evolve into butterfree, look up the spicebush swallowtail caterpillar, and its cocoon and you will realize that not only that you are wrong, but caterpie exist.

Venonat WAS originally supposed to evolve into Butterfree, but they changed it before the first games were made xD True fact.

Yeah I've heard that but I generally try to avoid taking a hard line with things like that in any fandom. I like the idea, whether or not it was supposed to happen, it didn't, so now it's just an idea. I think my on-the-fence attitude comes from being primarily a lion king artist - say one word wrong in THAT fandom and you get eaten alive!
